A CACHE & PAINTING

LETS TAKE A WALK
IT'S IN THERE!

THE CACHE WEATHER: Temp 30's rain/snow. ugh
This is a cache we found the other day. It is between Hermitage and West Middlesex. Along this walking trail, this is the outer trail little over 1 mile and there is an inner trail a little under a mile. Lot of mugglers here, people that working in the offices and businesses use this for breaks. If I lived near here I would use it. Maggie geo-dog almost found this one sniffing around. Did not take long to find with the GPS as there is not much here but a few bushes. It was a great day when we were out looking, not cold and ugly like it is this weekend.
I have painted the bathroom wood work this week. I got second coat on about 3/4 of it. This weekend I have not done much. To lazy in weather like this. So not much exciting going on here.
Hope to start the flea market rt. soon, so I guess I better start packing stuff to sell. I wish I could snap my fingers and it would be all gone. lol.
Thats all for now stay tunned and see what tomorow brings.

BRIDGE CACHE & ERIE EXTENSION CANAL

TYPICAL BRIDGE CACHE
MAGNET CACHE HOLDER WEATHER Sunny and around 60 today nice!
Today's cache is one I found last weekend while caching with the Papillon Princes. If you click on the first pic and make it larger you can see it hiding in there. This is pretty typical of a guard rial or bridge cache around here. They look easy but sometime they are not. I have two that I have been looking at and can't find. This one was on a dirt road, bet you thought there were not any dirt roads left. lol.
Eric commented on yesterday's post and I want to follow up. I should have said it was the Erie Extension Canal. On its way through Mercer Co. PA the EEC went along the Shenango River as stated. I don't know about the Chenango River that Eric was talking about, that might be a different river. There are still to locks you can see , one is in New Hamburg PA, and the other one is in Sharpsville Pa. both in Mercer Co. The one in Sharpsville is Locke # 10. The city made a nice little park there. Google it and find out about it. There is a geocache hid there and that is how I found it, Also there is a Erie Canal Museum in Greenville PA you can goole that too.
J&E I will be looking for those birds!!
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Thats all for now

CACHE ON SUN & UPDATE

TRAIL CACHE
OLD RR BED TRAIL

HIDDEN CACHE

THE CACHE
WEATHER:Today cold temp 55 cloudy
This is a cache I found on Sunday, it is located on old Rail Road bed trail. This part of the trail is in Jamestown Pa. Jamestown is the start of Pymatuning State Park where the main damn is located. This trail runs along the Shenango River, which was part of the old Erie Canal. The RR was the old toe path of the canal. I have not walked this trail yet but hope to get some hiking on it done this summer. The Canal went from Lake Erie to the Ohio River in Pittsburgh area. Lots of history here in north west PA. if nothing else. I was an easy cache to find with my GPS. I have been looking for birds and wild flowers on some of my outings but not much luck.
Started working on the house, son came in and helped me rip up the carpet in the bathroom, so now I will scrub and start painting. I have a leaking claw foot tub. Not good, but son thinks he
can fix it. We talked and I think plan to sell, right now has been changed to rent. If I rent it out now it will be less work to get ready. So that might me the answer right now, esp. till the housing market picks up
I need to get my fishing licences , I was going to get life time one in June when I turn 65 but if I am not going to be living in PA I will wait on that and get one yr at this time. Can't wait to go fishing. Well that's all for now, stay tuned and see what tomorrow brings.

PYMATUNING CACHE & FUN DAY

HIDDEN CACHE
THE CACHE

SIGNED LOG WEATHER: Beautiful day sunny and just a little cool
So Geo-dog Maggie and I decided to take a ride and do some flea marketing and caching. Since the flea market was on the Ohio side of Pymatuning Lake we did our caching there also. This is one of the caches we found in a small area for fishing and picnicking. The cache was fairly easy to find and we had it in a matter of minutes. When I re-hid it I put it back with a little more camo to conceal it better but its still not hard to find. When the foliage comes back full force this summer it will be well hidden. That's one reason I like to go Caching this time of year. It had a log in it to sign as usual so I thought this would be a good time to show you all how I sign my logs.
I have a zillion small apple stickers left over from my business Red Apple Junction and so I am using them and I sign with a red jelly ink pen. I seems to work even when the logs are wet and believe me many of them are. As you can see someone was at the cache and signe just before I got there today. In the first pic you can see a little of the lake in the back ground.
The flea market was at Andover Ohio out door movie they have it every sat and sun spring thru fall. I did not buy anything as I am trying to down size and get rid of stuff now add more.
It is the one I usually set up at. It is early and not many there, I will wait till May before I start.
I hope to do a lot and yard sales this summer to get rid of my stuff. I will be keep a little more than I planned on since I will be moving to Florida with dad, and not doing my full time RV'ing like I was planning on. Maybe someday. I still want to get a small RV and do some trips with it. That I think will satisfy my wonder lust for awhile anyway. I guess we never know what life is going to bring us. I am glad I like Florida lol.
We did not do much after we got home, working on blogs and reading some then I think I will play a few games on the puter. I have been playing Spades and Scrabble with my dd and sil the last couple of evenings its fun playing with someone you know, she goes to pogo and makes a room for us to play in.
One more thing I often wonder who and how many are reading this blog, so please at any time feel free to leave a comment. I am hoping some are enjoying it.
Guess that's all for now.

A FL CACHE & UPDATE

TYPICAL PARKING LOT CACHE
CACHE LOG ONLY WEATHER: TODAY IS COLD & RAIN BUT IT HAS BEEN UP IN THE 70'S AND ONE OR TWO 80'S SINCE I GOT HOME!
These pic's are of a typical parking lot cache, it took me 3 months to figure out the sq box around the light post can be lifted up. And I only figured it when I ran across one that was broken and tore up. These are called park & grab caches. I haven't looked for any since I got home but might go out tomorrow, while checking out a few yard sales.
I haven't got much done yet around the house. I finally got a fridge, a cheap new one at Home Depot. Got Dish for TV, as I had cable cut off before I left. This is so much cheaper than the cable I should have done it years ago. Went thru some flea market totes and got rid of a lot that I have been hauling around a couple years, if it hasn't sold by now it' not going to. Now I need to start going thru stuff and get going to the flea market with new items.
Hope to get started working on the house soon
That's all for now

CACHE & BACK IN PA

NEWS PAPER CACHE #2
THE CACHE WEATHER: Temp 81 and sunny in PA!
Wow did I pick a good time to come back to PA! It has been sunny the last few days, couldn't ask for any better. When I got home I cleaned the fridge and plugged it in and promptly burned up the motor. So what a nice welcome home present that was. I really don't want to buy a new one as I will be moving, and can 't take it to FL with me. So right now I am living out of coolers. Had to clean the kitchen with that happening so I guess that is were the fixing up will start. My son just fixed up his place, and put in a new floor, and it looks great, I think I will do that in my kitchen that way I will only have to do touch up painting and good cleaning for that room. Maybe I will do some before and after pic's, we will see.
This is a cache I found in FL before I left it is the second one that I found in a series of paper cache's. Kinda easy. But still fun.
That's all for now , stay tuned and see what tomorrow brings

CACHE & UPDATE

HANDICAP CACHE

THE CACHEMARCH 24
WEATHER: Another wonderful day in FL , 75 blue sky and a slight breeze.

Boy will I miss this weather!

This was a neat cache that took me couple times to find it. I thought it was in the bushes but turns out it was on the blue parking bar. As u can see there is a tube attached to a piece of rebar

I think you can figure it out from there.

Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen, bathroom , scrubbed floor etc etc. Took Maggie on a couple of walks and went to WM. This morning dad check a tire that looked low and it was so took it to tire place and have appt. at 1pm . Could not repair tire, and its less than a year old, so took spare and put that on, untill I can get a new one.
March 25
WEATHER Still nice but temps change as I go north.
Drove for 12 hrs today and I was very tired to say the least. Just leaving GA and entering SC there was a big traffic back up. I waited 20 min, seen lot of semi's going along burm and some RV's too, looked and saw a exit so I followed them figured they knew where they were going.
We traveled along side I-95 for about 20 mi and still the back up, finally I lost the semi's along the SC country side but had my maps and GPS so I didn't get lost. Got back on the interstate and was smooth going from there. Started at 6:30am stopped at 6:00pm.
WEATHER BRRRRRRRRRR COLD! WE ARE NOT IN FLORIDA ANY MORE!!!!
March 26
Got on the road about 7:00am stopped for breakfast and a geocache about 9am. Found that one ate and went on. Stopped for another geocache a couple hrs later and there was a cop sitting at GZ so that was a DNF. Had a few other DNF. Got to my daughters about 3:30.

All for now stay tuned and see what tomorrow will bring

SONIC CACHE & THIS AND THAT

SONIC CACHE

THE CACHE WEATHER: 77 today nice great day!

This was an easy cache Maggie and I found. The hit in the cache log was 12. Didn't take long to find after we got there luckily they were not busy.

Spent most of the morning packing and organizing the back of the truck. Its not going to be as bad as I thought. I like to keep the back some what open when traveling so I can see out, so that was going to be a problem or so I thought, but its working out ok. I have every thing in but what will be last min stuff.
4 PM Maggie and I went caching this afternoon, trying to get in a few more before we leave on Thru. Got 2 out of 2 nice easy ones. I will be posting about them in a later post. Came home went for a walk, fixed supper, now playing here. The next door neighbor is moving an brought me a couple wind chimes she couldn't take to her new condo. Well guess that's all for now, stay tuned and see what tomorro brings

WEEKEND AND BLUE CACHE

BLUE CACHE
THE CACHE WEATHER: 70-80's sunny with a storm Sun. afternoon.
The Blue cache is a well known "sneaky cache" hard to find, well I had to go find it. lol
Went and looked and looked and touched everything, finally decided I needed to look at it
in a different way, thinking that I found it in about 30 seconds! This is really fun hobby wish
I could find a caching partner.
This weekend I worked on getting the truck packed, looks like I'm taking back a bunch more stuff than I came with. Those 2 tables I painted take up a lot of room and I picked up 2 folding wood TV tables to paint when I get back to :PA. This morning we went to the flea market and got some Florida oranges. Dad had a shelf we got at Home Depot last week then decided he didn't want it so we took that back. Then Maggie and I went caching and found 3 out of 4 caches. Just got back in time before a big storm went thru. Won't be doing much more now but playing on the puter.
Last week I put pic's of vintage jewelry on my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/
and got a few peeps wanting to buy, so I sent emails but got no answers. Bummer. I want to make an esty store this year and start selling some of my vintage there. I guess by what I see and read its a getting to be a popular selling market.
I wonder how Maggie will act when we get back to cold PA. and a double story house. She seems to like it here just fine. Thats all for now. Stay tunded and see what tomorrow birngs.

CACHE & UPDATE

THERE'S A CACHE IN THERE?

SEE IT?

FIREMAN CACHE
WEATHER: In the 70's and sunny wonderful, I sure will miss this when I go back to PA next week!

This weeks cache had something to do with firemen and was pretty easy to find. The problem I have with these FL caches , is I wonder what kind of critters are hiding in under those palms.

I do have my walking stick and poke it around before moving to far, or sticking my hands in some place I can't see. I took nothing and left nothing in this cache.

UPDATE: We went to a flea marked on Sun. near Cocoa. It is a much better flea than the one here in Melbourne, and I think I will be setting up there in the fall when I come back.

We went out to dinner last evening with friends Ron & Kris. Went to a place called Harbor City Diner wow what a place, soooo much food, had to bring some home. I have been there 2 X and I now think its my fav place to eat.

I will be leaving here next Thurs. boooo hooo, I have soooooo very much to do when I get back I don't really know where to start. I need someone to organize me, any ideas??? What needs to be done is getting house ready to sell and clean out all my stuff and get rid of it. Very big job for one person to do, my Son will be helping some. I'm tired just thinking about it. I really like living here in Florida but do miss my family.
This afternoon I cleaned out the back of the truck and started to pack it up to go. Now I am packing clothes etc etc.
Went looking for a cooler this afternoon couldn't find one, when I got home was telling dad about it and he says he has one. LOL low and behold it was just what I wanted, he said before you buy something ask because I probable have it.
We had left overs from the diner for supper tonite, and still have enough left for a lunch tomorrow. Maggie and I both have gained a few lbs since we have been here. We will be starting some better eating habits soon. I have no food in PA so it should be easy to start eating better.
Don't know what tomorrow will bring. So stay tuned and find out!

NEWS PAPER CACHE

THE CACHE
NEWS PAPER CACHE
WEATHER: Today is grrrrreat! temp 80 with a few clouds as we have a storm coming Thur and Friday.
This cache I found the other day, first one of this kind that I have come across. By the color of the cache you can figure out where it was hid. If you click on the pic you can enlarge it and look hard you can see it. Took no time to find it by the clues on the web site
Went with dad to do a few errands, that took most of the morning so we ate at Bugger King. Came home took Maggie for a walk to the park, didn't see much interesting this time . But the other day I seen a dolphin that was neat. Today I did see a guy with a kayak and was talking to him about kayaking. I ask if I could lift it to see how heavy they are , he told me to go to Bevard Zoo to take one out and see if I liked it, he said it's in a contained area and safe for newbies . That is one more thing to do when I come back. Can't wait!! Life is good in Florida.

YARD SALE & CRAFT SHOW

COCOA VILLAGE SHOP DRIFTWOOD FISH

VINTAGE JEWELRY

VINTAGE JEWELS WEATHER : BEAUTIFUL! 70

This was a busy weekend, Sat we had another yard sale and this time I put stuff
that I brought down out to sell. It was pretty good I came with about 7 totes and
ended up with only 3. Makes me happy! Dad did good also. On Sun. I went with a new
Florida friend to a craft show in Cocoa Village. It was a very good show but did have to much
jewelry as many shows have now. It was this shopping area with the streets blocked off
And everyone set up along the streets. There is a pic of one of the shops posted.
On Sun. it did not look like it was well attended, But that’s par for the course on most spring shows. One of the pic’s is of a drift wood carving The head of a fish. Click on it to see it larger.
We also stopped at a large flea market in Cocoa, I checked around and this looks like a good place and when I come back hope to sell at it. I am going back to look around this coming weekend.

MICRO

CHECK SIZE WITH NICKLE WEATHER : Rain early this AM then sun for awhile now gray with wind.
CLICK ON PIC TO ENLARGE
Went caching yesterday with Maggie, she needed her truck fix so away we went
This is one we found neat idea it is what they call a bison tube attached to a piece of wood
used as a plug that is inserted in the 8X8 post, under the yellow reflector. You can see it in the pic
I took I like these kind of cache's you have to look around a little and eliminate things one by one.
T his was at the end of a dead end road. Only took a few min to find.
My DD in VA is deep into the Relay for Life. She is doing fund raisers there and she has a web page for one of the fund raisers. My mother died of breast ca when she was 4o yrs old , in 1969. She is doing this for her, she has a pic of mom on the page a very old pic of her sitting on the bank of a creek with feet in the water, check it out and donate if you would like to help out breast ca research. And thanks in advance. I think next yr I will get involved. Here is the link, I will put it on my side bar if I can figure out how. I think mag & I will take a walk to the park soon. Fixing fried rice for supper, dad doesn't care for it so he is fixing liver&onions for him. Yuk!! That's all for now stay tuned see what tomorrow brings!

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING

BEFORE
DURING

AFTER

YARD SALE FL 2010

MORE YARD SALE WEATHER: COLD AND RAIN ALL DAY HIGH 55
Here are a few pic's of what I have been doing. The two tables are like the ones that they sell at Ikea, (I think) I got them at a yard sale a few weeks ago. Needed something to do so I painted them red white and blue then antiqued them. I usually use Bri Wax to antique with but didn't have any with me and could not find any here. Used some stuff I got at Micheal's but don't like it at all. But they still look nice. I put them in the yard sale but they didn't sell , I didn't think the would because they were not priced at a yard sale price. I will take them up north with me and sell there. The other thing that took up a lot of time was helping dad get ready for his yard sale. We had a good amount to sell and sold almost all of it. Made him happy. I will be having another sale next Sat. if the weather is ok. I brought stuff to sell at some flea markets here but have not found one that would work for me. Maybe with yard sale I can make some gas money for return trip.
This AM I went to a grocery store called Publix nice store, a relief from WM. There are a few others I want to try also. We won't be doing much today I am sitting here in front of the window blogging watching the rain pour down. Maggie is lying on the bed sleeping. She wakes up if a squirrel runs up one of the palm trees in front of the window, the other day one fell out of the tree and hit the window, scared the bejebies out of me. lol. Well thats all for now stay tuned to see whats next in sunny FL

BUSY & A CACHE

MICRO TREE HIDE
MICRO
LOG IN THE MICRO
WEATHER: Cool today high 58 but sunny
Hi everyone, sorry I've been away so long been really busy and too tired to blog at nite. So I think I will try and do it in the afternoon. Found this cache the other day after 3 tries. It is a micro hid in a tree. I'm not sure I like those hard to find. You have to look in every nook and cranny. Found another one I have visited several times will blog about it another time.
We finally were able to have the yard sale! Dad did very good, sold over 1/2 of what we had out.
Took what clothes that were left to goodwill next day.
This has been the coldest winter in over 30 yrs here in Fl , of course it would be when I came. I get accused of binging with me. The killing frost they had before I got here killed of a lot of beautiful foliage, what a shame.
We are going to the Strawberry Festival in Plant city next weekend, looking forward to that. I will take pic's. I will be heading back to PA around the 25th of march, it's been a short winter. I suppose that having no snow helps it along! I guess at home they are getting pounded with snow this winter, and I thought it was bad before I left!
I really love FL and cant wait to come back. (even before I have left lol)
I will have pic of yard sale tomorrow.

CACHING

EAST COAST CACHE
THE CACHE WEATHER: Nice this AM rain this afternoon, part of the snow storm in the north.
temp was 70 mostly cloudy
Here is another geocache we found, a typical fence type cache. It hides a trash container owned by East Coast. Was pretty easy to find now that I know about the " fence type caches" and nothing exciting happened while we looked for it.
Worked in the yard again today, on Mon. dads friend came by with his chain saw and gave the palm trees a" hurricane hair cut". I will show you pic's and explain when I get the pic's uploaded.
I am going to plant an herb garden and I worked on getting that ready. In the fern weeds I found a stag horn plant , it was almost a goner but I am going to try and save it, they are very interesting things. I have do some research on them.
I am trying not to think about leaving and heading north,my time here is going so fast! the things I have been working on , I will have some before and after pics to show you.
Guess thats all for tonite, to see what tomorrow will bring stay tuned

YARD WORK, ROSES & A RACE

PINK FEB ROSE
MOWING THE YARD

A RACE ON OUR STREET
WEATHER: It has been a little on the cool side this weekend, Sat. was rain all day, Sun. was sunny but a cold wind blowing in from the ocean. Today sunny and 65 great day!
Yesterday morning Maggie was barking, going nuts looking out the living room window. I went to take a look , there were bunches of peeps running past the house, seems we were on the race rt. for the Melbourne & Beaches Music Marathon race. Later company came to watch the game. They brought chicken cooked in the Green Egg, a smoker of some sort , we made the rest of the meal.
Today I mowed the yard, "IN FEB "still having problem with the weather here. Also took of pic of a pink rose in the back yard for all you garden deprived peeps out there. This afternoon I took a ride looking for a Micheal's store, found one about 15 miles away, in a great shopping center. They have every kind of store you could want. Next time I go will take pic's.
My brother is doing good after his by pass surg thanks for all your prayers.
Got a call today from an old friend in PA. it was nice, I am not home sick for PA but I do miss my peeps up north. Well thats all for now, what will tomorrow bring, stay tuned and find out.
