AROUND MY HOUSE…..

Flowers around my house…
When I no longer have a  house to take care of this is one thing I will miss and that is the flower gardens and landscaping…and a regular garden for that matter.…I use to grow all my vegies and had some apple and peach trees….for about 30 years I kept these Holy Hocks cut down..then when I retired I let them grow…and they turned out beautiful..I have another pic of them somewhere in full bloom…but cant find it…They have to be heirloom…must be over 50 years old…

Here are a few roses that I had before we put in the Knock Out roses…these were climbers and I wanted them to grow up the side of the porch and shade it…Then I started going  to FL and could not be here to take care of them…

Slate patio …
About six yeas ago they went around town and marked peoples sidewalk that needed repair…mine was ok…but the neighbor had slate for side walk and it needed replaced..so the contractor that was doing the job…was moving all the large slate one day…I went over and ask what he did with the slate…he said he would sell it…(I had already checked at another landscape place to see how much) …I ask if he would sell it to me and use his back hoe to put it in my back yard…well low and behold he said he would…and the price was $50.00 for all…including hauling it across the street…there were 11 pieces…now the price I got from the other landscaper I went to want $40.00 a piece and they were smaller than these…man was I happy…SmileSmileSmile So I had my little patio out back…

Not mine…
My DD is the one that has the real “green thumb” …these were her rose a few years ago…planted outside of her kitchen window…they are on a trellis, the name of the rose is Jacob Coat…first they turn yellow, then peach, then red…the most beautiful rose I have ever seen…they got much bigger… and then  they had a bad winter one year with heavy snow and it broke the trellis and killed the roses…such a shame…She got her rose thumb from my paternal grandmother (Mary Reinhart) …she grew the most beautiful roses you every laid your eyes on…and my birthday being in June..I was the lucky recipient of a bouquet of them each year…I really looked forward to them…Smile she also made each of her grandchildren a special birthday cake..she was a great baker and well know in the community…she made them a cake until they got married or turned 21..my kids were her first great grandchildren and they got a cakes for a few years also..

Speaking of winter….
Here is little Maggie girl…with her winter outfit on….one year early on we had a real cold snap and she would freeze her little feet of when out doing her business…she would just stand there looking up at me with a little paw held up…felt so bad for her…so went out looking for “boots” for her…found them at WM and got them ..she let me put them on without a fuss…and took a few steps to test them out and then we walked on down the street…she was a happy puppy…she did not like her pic taken still doesn’t ..you have to trick her into looking at you…

I know this post has nothing to do with traveling, RV’s, or geocaching for that matter…but this is what it is right now…so I though maybe I would start writing about life and some day down the line my grandkids and great grandkids and so on might be interested in what this old Grammy was all about…I know I would love to be able to take a peak at the lives of my ancestors…. we are so blessed with all the technology we have in this day and age … that we can leave a legacy like this to our future family…I just hope some one in my family will keep and preserve it…I know some think it is really dumb to have a blog …but a blog is what you make it…some are bad..but some like mine is “a good thing” there are actually place on line line where you can have your blog made into a book..now that would be wonderful…I just wish my kids would let me put their pic’s on here….guess that’s it for now thanks for looking and come back soon..blessing G&M

  1. Love Maggie's little boots. My doggies also have boots.

Your house looks so homey with all the beautiful flowers. I especially like the patio.
