WICKHAM PARK CAMPGROUND

2013-01-10_16-16-41_616This is a pic of the start of loop A. We were parked down this road. Even tho I have not been camping in any other campground I think this is a very very nice one. You can check it out your self. http://www.brevardcounty.us/ParksRecreation/Campgrounds/Wickham/Home
2013-01-07_10-47-01_302Here is more of the loop. Most of the lots are nice size. A lot of trees oak and palm. Paved roads. Sand and grass make up the lots.
2013-01-13_07-29-32_406You can see how large some of the sites are, lot of room between these two.
011013205503And in this pic you can see that in most of the sites your can park at any angle. Click on pic to see better.
011613132539Some nice prime sites by the many lakes and ponds in Wickham Park and campgrounds. This is a great park for over night also. But even better to spend some time. There are peeps that spend the winter here also. I can not think of anything too bad about this campground. It is very close to a lot of attractions including Disney. A good place to be central Florida along the Atlantic coast. The Space Coast it is called. Tons of shopping all over I love going to the Avenue in Viera about 15 mi from the park. I plan on spend a good deal of time at this campground while keeping an eye on dad. All for now thanks for looking and come back soon.

PS...There a ton of geocaches in Wickham Park. I have found maybe 20 or so.

CRACK OF DAWN & GAS

Yesterday….
Got up at the crack of dawn today in order to go over to the local WM and get our first gas up in the MH. I figured it would be less busy at 7 am. And it worked out fine, was able to get in easy and leave easy.
2012-10-28_07-31-28_570
As you can see Maggie girl was supervising the whole ordeal. We did ok, I hope all gas ups are as easy as this one was.

Then we at our breakfast in the parking lot, I made my version  of egg mcmuffin at home and brought it along.

Then we headed out for our day trip today. No beach or park this time. Instead we went to the Supper Flea Market in Melbourne. Got there about 8:30 weren’t to many ahead of us, parking lot was almost empty. We parked way in the back. But by noon the lot was all most full, with a semi parked right in front of us. He had a whole parking lot to park in when he pulled , why he got in front of us is beyond me.

Nice having our house on wheels with us! We walked around first thing , but many booths were  not open yet so we went out side walked around a bit, waited in MH for a couple hrs. Worked on the Christmas stocking I am crocheting for my dd. She lost hers.   Only bought pizza and bad girl got a
funnel cake!! That was the first and last one this year. I did see alot of neat things  to use in the MH but did not buy anything yet. Maggie got pushed around in her "buggy" haveing a good time. She really likes to ride in it. When she sees me getting it ready she is dancing around can hardly contain her self lol.
Then we went to the park for a few hrs. and see this kid with his fishing bike. Way cool, I ask him if he made it and said sure did. Love it.

WHAT'S GOING ON

Friday and Sat. we  went here for our breakfast picnic. This is a really nice park here in Melbourne. 300 + acres. Also has a campgrounds.

We parked here under this live oak tree. I was sitting reading Maggie was lying on the bed when a acorn dropped on the roof right above Maggie. lol she jumped straight up and went crazy trying to find out where the acorn went, she was sure it was in the van somewhere.
There is a ton of stuff to do in this park. Here is one of the many, many trails you can hike on. There is also many events that are held in the park.

This was Maggie's first trip here and she could not keep her nose of the ground. To many new smells and dogie smells, tons of dogs are walked here and they do have a dog park. Right now I will not be taking her there, as she does not like large dogs. And it is an off leash dog park. They make me nervous also since we have been attacked 3 times by large dogs.
Went to yard sales and found nothing, waste of gas. Spent all Sat. afternoon cooking, so I don't have to cook all week. Put in freezer, my version of fast food. Cheaper and healthier. I have been reading a RV forum for some time. So felt it was time to join in on it. They are having a get together in Florida the end of Jan. Well since chatting with these very nice ladies I decided to join in on the fun. So reserved a spot for a couple days.http://www.womenrv.com/forum/ The GTG will be at Hillsborough River State Park here in FL. It is just north of Tampa. Almost straight across the state from me. To tell you the truth, living here is pretty lonely, not knowing anyone, so its about time I get out and about. There are several Florida peeps going. And a lot of snowbirds will be there. I am pretty excited about it, wish it was not 4 months away. I have been getting MzSavana ready and will show you what I have got done so far next post.
As soon as it cools down here I am going to take a couple over night camping trips to get the kinks worked and to know what I will need to take with me.
Well that's it for now thanks for looking and come back soon

HAPPENINGS

We continue on with our picnic breakfast here in Florida. This is at our local park. Ballard Park. This was our view this morning. If you click on the pic you can see the larger view, and behind the house on the left (yellow in color) dad's house is right behind it. Dad use to have that view before they built about 6 houses along that strip of land.

Though I would throw this pic of Maggie Girl in today. While I was home in PA I was looking on my old desk top puter trying to figure out how to get the pic's I  have on there on to my new laptop. LOL look at those ears she was only 8 weeks on in this pic, I had just got back from meeting my dd to pick her up. They got her for me and had to keep her a couple weeks before we could get together. What a sweetie she was (and is). She had finally grew into her ears. !!! Don't mind the pic as I took it while looking on the old puter. I had her on the bed... had to keep pillows around her she was bouncing all over the place. Look at that paw up begging ....what a sweet little girl.
I am working on getting things organized. Also yesterday I scrubbed all the out side lawn chairs, they had mold and mildew all over yuck...what a mess. Used that Clorox spray and wow new chairs. Trying to get my art/craft room fixed up. That will take several days,,,maybe weeks. Maggie and I took a day trip to Vero Beach the other day.No pic's this time, did go to a couple stores and had lunch in parking lot. I don't have my mojo back yet, but will sometime soon I am sure. Will take time is all.
Tried to see the shuttle Endeavor fly by this morning, but was to cloudy I heard the big jet carrying it but could not see it. So will watch it on the news at noon.

Maggie grew in to her ears! And turned out to be a beautiful show dog that she was born to be.
But her pink nose kept her out of the ring! She still has some pink above her nose that turns blood red when she gets excited.
I need to post more often or start writing things down because I have forgot alot that I have been doing (lol guess it must have been exciting) Oh well I will try and do better.
All for now thanks for looking and come back soon.

THE HEMMOCK NATURE TRAIL

More about our adventure last Sat. We went looking for the I Dream of Jeannie geocache we found it in this neat little park that led up to the ocean.

A small nature trail was there and it was all on a board walk so we took it. This is the start of the trail.
More of this lovely trail. These live oak trees are all over this south and a million or so in Florida I love them, no two even resemble each other. All twisted up every which way.
We did not see very much wild life on this trail. But seen lots of hidy holes where they could possible be .

The wild life we seen was mostly butterflies, with one squirrel running up a twisted tree. Was a little disappointed not seen much, but really liked all the great foliage.

I love all these twisted limbs. It is almost like walking thru a fairy land. Hmmm....... maybe a few fairy's in there.
A few pull offs where you could stop and rest and take in all natures beauty. Here is Maggie taking a break in her buggy. She is doing really good riding in it. She does not want any one or any thing like dogs, getting to close to it. Its her little cave and you better stay away . We were there about an hr taking time walking thru and checking everything out. Little did I know there are two geocaches in there. Dummy me did not check my smart phone to see if there were any. Oh well good reason to go back again. Since I will be late leaving Florida, I am going over today and walk around the mall looking for a dress to ware to the wedding. Just checking to see whats out there. Will be looking with my daughter on the way home. well that's it for now thanks for looking and come back soon,

"CACHING" UP :)

Me and Maggie took a day trip last week. Went looking for Florida State Parks. Well found the Sebastien State park, but also what I found out you have to pay just to ride around these parks. Something I am not use to, in PA we have free state parks, only have to pay if you want to go into the camp grounds. I didn't want to pay $4 just to spend a couple hrs looking so we did not go in the park. On down the road we went across the inter coastal water way back to the main land and found this little park at the end of the cause way. Most cause ways here have these little parks. Did not see any manatees here.
There is a geo cache down this way, but just as we started to look for it a muggle fisherman pulled in and that was that.
We pulled down to the other end of the park and had our lunch under these palm trees. Watched all the interesting things on and around the water. Nice! I am in Florida what can I say :):):) If you click on the pic to enlarge it , I think you can see little Maggies cute little head in the window. Oops she is hiding, but I found out you have to right click on the pic and then click open and it will make it bigger.
Next up on another day we went geocaching. This is on the grounds of a local hospital. Nice to come out here and eat your lunch while working here. Or just on a break.

Here is the cache...see it? Has a magnet on it and stuck to the side of this box. My health issues are much on the mend and I am feeling really good. I think I have been feeling bad since last summer and didn't really know what it was. I know one thing I will be eating a much better diet from now on. I really feel like doing things again! We have found more geocaches but I will save them for other posts so its not so long between posts! I will be leaving here the first week in June to see my peeps in PA and go to my grandsons wedding in Pittsburgh that should be fun!! I plan on doing a lot more sight seeing and traveling here in Florida and more. I will be buying Maggie a stroller this month so she can go places and give me more freedom. Having Maggie is like having a 2 year old child to care for. But what would I do with out her!!!!!!???? Anyone out there know where to get one at a good price? Today I am going to be working on a paper bag mini album for my granddaughter to be. It is for her bridal shower. If you want to know more about it go here and check it out. TRIP UP DATE

MAYBERRY CAMPGROUND

MAGGIE CHECKING CAMP SITE FRIDAY

CACHE CAMO FOUND IN MAYBERRY

THE CACHE LOG IN HERE

WEATHER: The weather has been great this whole trip. I won't go into detail, but shorts and T shirts.

The campground we stopped at on Friday night was in MT Airy NC, home of the Andy Griffth show. Hence the name. A nice campground by the looks of everything we were there only over night. We were at a spot next to the office, bathroom with shower right there at office. We were put there because we were only staying the night. We drove about the some as the day before, so we had plenty of time to explore down town after we checked in. Very interesting place lots of thing to see, if you are a lover of the show you will enjoy this a lot. You need a couple days to see everything. We also looked for a few caches, only finding two. The one pictured above is a fake hen's & chicken plant with a tube for the log to hide. I knew right away what it was. Easy park&grab. The other was also a P&G light pole.

I like traveling like this no rush to get someplace, stopping to take a look at things, doing a little caching, etc. I just wish I at least had a van, hard on old lady climbing around in that truck.

Sleeping: Well, the first night Maggie kept trying to get on the lounge cushion with me. There is no room for this lol. I made a little area for her using a crochet Afghan, but i guess that was not cushy enough for her. So on Sat night she gave up and stayed put.

Got to my daughters on Sat and will leave here on Monday.

All for now thanks for looking and come back soon.

GEOCACHING WITH GEO-BUDDIES

Two girls draped over the geo-mobile! You remember the bathing beauties in the 40-50's ? lol Geo-Beauties. lol lol
Cindy found it! And didn't have to climb a tree to get it!
Mike & Cindy checking a log. Mike in the bush again! While Cindy signs the log.

Could it be in there?? I hope not!
Or maybe in there.
Cindy had to climb a tree to get this one! Not me that's for sure! The past two Sat. we went to the " Compound " looking for the 30 Geo-opoly caches that are hid there. I think I told you about the "Compound on the last post. Well we have found 26 out of 30.

The 4 we have not found are ones we have looked for but have been DNF so far. But we will go back to find them so we can have the whole series. This has been a fun and challenging series.

There are others hid there also so we will look for those after this.

It is sooooo much more fun when you have friends to cache with! I will miss them when I head north in a few weeks. I hope they don't find all the caches around here while I'm gone!

It is getting hot here in Melbourne. In the 90 last few days, and wall to wall sun. Cant do much out side in this weather.

Maggie has another hot spot. She got one soon as the last one got better. I sure wish I could figure out what is causing them. I feel so bad for her, she doesn't know what to do. She knows she should not bite at them , so she runs around like a banshee, skiting around like a scarred rabbit. Its sad to see. She does a lot hiding under the bed. My poor baby :( Anyone have any ideas about these hot spots please leave a comment.

When I head north I have been thinking about staying in a camp ground and not a motel. I will have an almost empty truck and we can camp in it. It will be the middle of may and warm enough I think. I am only driving 8 or so hrs a day this time, taking my time. Its not good for my old body cramped up in the cab of the small Toyota. We'll see, but I think that's what will be going down .

All for now thanks for looking stop back soon

A DAY OF GEOCACHING- GEO-OPOLY

MR HECKER-WINEY'S FINDING A CACHE: This was along the way but not part of the Geo-opoly series.
THE H-W GEO-MOBILE: Very cool geo-mobile! It is a Travel Bug also. You can see it just about the tail lite, that is above the plate.

MY FIRST TO FIND! Yeah!!! Me holding my FTF (First To Find) empty log waiting for us to sign. Mrs H-W got a phone message while we were lunching at Burger King. Said a new cache just went on line, and we were close, so the rest is history. We got it! There is Mr. H-W behind the bush....sorry Mike!

FIST TO FIND FOR H-W'S ALSO: Mrs. H-W holding the empty log.....yeah we are the FTF (First To Find) There is Mr. H-W behind the bush again! This would be their 3rd FTF.
WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FLORIDA : In high 80's all weekend with wall to wall sun shine!
To be 90 SunDAY. Spring is here!
Hope my peeps up north are having some spring type weather too.
I had a great day of Geocaching with my caching buddies the Hecker-Winey's (geo name) aka Cindy & Mike. Started out that Cindy and I were going to go , but then Mike got a day off work and so he came along too. It was a good thing as where we had picked to go , was not a place to go alone or maybe two geo-girls not to go alone. At least these two Chic-en's lol. It is a desolate wasteland that at one time was to be a housing development. A few years back, this entire area was cleared, leveled, and roads were paved. But, due to corruption and economic woes, the area tanked and is now a desolate wasteland. So it is now the Geo-opoly Series.....a series styled in the fashion of a VERY popular board game that has been around since 1935!! The caches are the game board streets and railroads, place all over this area. What a fun time we had , we only found 7 of the caches this first day out. But we will be back, only ,with Mike in tow.:)
It is so much more fun when you have geo-buddies to cache with!!
Today Sat. went to a few yard sales dad bought this oven thingy he thinks he needs! Not! he got some kind a oven RonCo thingy last time we went, has yet to be used, is in the closet. I got some old pic's around 1902 some a little earlier, for my altered art projects.
You can see what I have been doing with the altered vintage post cards on my other blog ...go check it out and sign up for my first give away. Just click on the link below.
Well thats all for now thanks for looking and come back soon

SUN RISE, CACHING AND A FROG

SUNRISE AT THE PARK : Got this great pic the other morning in the park. We got there before sunrise and I also remembered to take my camera. Not sure what the bird is (maybe Judy knows) but even with Mr. cheapo I think I got a pretty good shot. Seen 6 squirrels hanging on a palm tree trunk teasing Maggie, I tried but could not get a shot of them. It was so funny seeing them up side down look and chattering at her. Maggie is trying to make a few doggie friends but she is still nervous about it. CACHING BUDDIES: My new caching buddies looking over a cache we had just found. We went out on sat morning and spent the day caching and had a lunch picnic. I wont tell you were we went as I don't want to give anything away. I really don't think you could figure out anything with these pic's anyway. I had a great time, poor Maggie had to stay home. Just too hot for her. I found 8 or 9 and they found a few more than I did because I had already found them.

CHECKING A CACHE

NOW HOW CUTE IS THAT! This cache was just so sweet, game me a few ideas on hiding a cache. I would love to hide a few, but will have to wait until fall when I come back to Fl. WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FLORIDA: Temps in the 80's and lows in 50's. Mostly sunny today another wonderful day.

Most of the day spent with house work, getting company tomorrow, for a day of art projects. You can read about it on my other blog on wed.

Planted a bush this am. will take pic later and show you.

Congrats to son having birthday on Sat. and he got a job at Home Depot. Way to go!

Seen the super moon the other night, Mr cheapo couldn't get the job done so no good pic. I think I must have seen the super moon back in the 90's (but didn't know what it was ) cause I remember one night coming home and looking up the street and thru the houses and seen this HUGE orange ball of a moon. I was fascinated by it, looked as if I could reach right out and touche it, that's how big it was. It was a sight that I will never forget. This one did not look that big, at least not where I was looking.

Spring is here hope you folks up north are having better weather. My neighbor is on face book and she sent me a message how awful the winter has been. Neighbor would be Lexi and Milo's mama (Maggie's friends).

All for now thanks for looking stop back soon
