My big news….

The big news…

this little girl in the pic…her name is Pheebe a long hair Chihuahua mix..7 1/2 lbs…long legs for a Chihuahua not sure what she is mixed with….

Her name was Diva …but i changed it…i copied this from FB i posted…

Well better llate than never...i know some people from PA wanted to know how Pheebe come about ....So i will try and make this not so long...Carolb and I went "window" shopping Brevard County Sheriff's Office Animal Services....well we spent almost an hr. there looking and feed treats to the doggies...they did not have many small dogs and most of them you had to wait until their week was up...a lot of their dogs are strays so they have to keep them at least a week...soooo as we... were leaving Carol with the super eyes caught sight of a worker with a little bit of brown in her arms...we took a look and stopped her to ask about this little thing that was shaking like a leave...it seems that her and her brother Charlie was surrender by their elderly person they being puppies she could not handle them...so Charlie being a social bug was adopted right away and the little girl Pheebe shy and afraid was soon sent out as a PJ dog...could be returned if I doesn't work out...her new foster had a black lab ...and it didn't work out so the very min. that we were walking out she was carried in... we ask to socialize with her..so we were take to a small barren room to get to know her...she was so very scared of everything that had been happening to her and the over whelming noise of about 60 other large dogs barking like crazy...and all the people when the worker put her down she curled up in a little ball against the wall shaking so much the room might start to vibrate...and if you would even stand near her she would snarl and growl ..I got down on the floor and tried to offer my hand and she just barred her teeth and growled more...but when I first saw her with the worker I offered my hand and she put her little paw on it...so anyway we ask if we could go out side where there was less noise and no other dogs...so the worker after some time was able to pick her up and we went out...I ask her to just hand the puppy to me and not put her down...so I walked away in the grassy area with her in the and after a few min. of holding her and talking she stopped shaking and seem a little more at ease...we got all the info on her and sat out side with her and the worker...I can say that she didn't jumped out at me but by then I knew I could not leave her in that environment for her to shake , shiver and be so very frightened .... and being that she was a owner surrendered puppy she could be taken that very min. and not have to wait a week...so I filled out the paper work and we were connected a forever family... along with Maggie in our hearts and minds eye...another good thing... is that Hiers Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership where paying all adoptions fees for the first 200 dogs adopted during the month of Dec. that is why they were so busy... I paid not a thing for this little Diva! Well that's our story...and I have one other piece of news but that will have to wait for a bit yet...i will post more later about new family member…She is Maggies baby sister and Maggies is in our heart and minds eye as we go along….i have to tell you that she bonded with me right away …she sticks to me like glue…

Hi everyone…i will be blogging again soon …need to test the new Live Writer… I have a lot of news…

When you fly by the seat of your pants….

You get what you get what you get…meaning what ever… We left Melbourne early hoping to miss the rush hr. traffic…did not…Headed south on US-1..to busy so slipped over to I-95 .. thought we might head over to Lake Okeechobee…Carolb wanted to check it out…and since I had never been there …ok…went to  the Stuart area and cut across 76 to 441…looked like 441 followed the shore line around the lake on the east side…got there and started down the road…we thought we would at the south end of the lake hit a Visitors Center that was on the map…drove and drove and around each bend we were sure we would see the lake to our right..but all we seen was a big mound of land and here and there men and truck working hard at something we never did figure out…I think some where between Bean City and Lake Harbor we seen a nice size park…but still could not see Lake Okeechobee…we drove the whole way thru the park…signs saying watch out for gators…so Carol did not want to risk the 3 pups…we stop to talk about our next move …and I told her about the free dump station I seen on the way in…so we went back to use it…might as well get something out of this…all the while we were spitting and sputtering about where is that dang (&^%$%^) Lake….I seen a couple workmen over by a small retention pond..went to talk to them about the lake and what was behind this big mound that we see where the lake was suppose to be the lake was behind it…...but on this side it was mostly swap grass…any way when I got over to them one was beside the pond making a growl like sound…

See the gator….he started out at the end of the red pipe thing ….

as I was watching him I seen an alligator on the other side…he told me he was calling him…and sure enough the gator start slowly across the water toward us…longer story short ..the gator came right up to the shore in front of us ,..then seen it was not a gator calling and disappeared under the water not to be seen again….

He was calling with his hand cupped over his mouth..

As he called the gator got closer and closer ….

We were standing on a bank about 6 ft. above the water and the gator…he did come closer than what you see in the pic above before he went under the water and left …from the noise I have heard on TV that gators make this guy was really good…This was the first encounter with gators…

At one point we stopped at a rest stop and walked the pups and our selves …we did a lot of stopping on this trip…

One other place we stopped in pic below …we both found a few things we needed…like we each found a skirt …decided it was much cooler to ware skirts…

Later we stopped near Miami Lakes at a Wal-Mart for the night…

well that’s about all for the first day…as I remember it…Carolb did take me in circles a few times…lol…anyway more to come on this road trip…

Today is Thanksgiving ..Happy Thanksgiving all my family and friends wish I was with any.. all or some of you..…watching the parade…not cooking first time I think in my adult life have not cooked …even when I was alone some years still cooked because I love the Thanksgiving dinner left overs…I eat for a week on them….but since I am on the low fat…low carb…low salt…very low sugar diet…really a life style change in eating…no more TG dinner..I am working on all my new life style changes…all for now thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all G&M

SUNDAY NOV. 8

Good morning everyone….

Greeting you with a pic of one beautiful sunrise seen while I was at McIntosh FL…been a lot happening since then…some good some not so good…I went to the dog thingy at Cocoa last weekend and it was a bust …no dogs for adoption only a bunch of vendors trying to sell you something and not all of it was dog related….

Theses cuties was spotted at the festival…riding around in this quad dog buggy being pushed by their dad…it this pic they had just spotted their mama at a booth….look at them soooo sweet….the one on the left back was really small and hard to see and get a pic of…

And the rest of the story…

Only a couple of pix this time…have been taking myself and dad to a lot of Doc appointments…It seems that when my back Doc sent me to a neurologist to have to spine/pinched nerve test done and upon his exam and evaluation he thinks I might have had a stroke at some point…so had MRI  of brain and ultra sound of carotid arteries …had that done last week…my follow up is not until Dec 7…but I don’t want to wait a month …if I did have one I want treatment started right now not in a month…going to call and see if I can get in sooner….I have did some research and know more life style changes I have to make more than I have already do for the spine/back …I have already got a leg up on that…more exercise and diet changes…things that I should have been doing all along…3 years ago I was in a good place walking ..going to the gym and eating right ,..lost some wt.… then life stuff happened and I got lost…in my younger years I did eat and get exercise …not sure what happened over the years…I hope I can reverse some of this problem…I will let you know what the test say…this morning I got up again before the sun and started out on my walk…(having problem sleeping also with stress chasing me) came back …checked my oil and the water in the rig engine battery…I hate that job…I got a new house battery a deep cell closed gel battery…expensive but worth it to me…holds good charge and last a long time…also I have developed some leaks …so when I examined the rig …I found a lot of places there was no caulking…where I thought should be from the factory….When I went to the RV show at the mall a few weeks ago I check the new rigs and all of them had caulking everywhere…mine did not…so started on the back end where I have a problem (because of a big boo boo I made on the way south) not going to talk about it either…anyway cleaned it with denatured alcohol and then caulked…going to do a little at a time …so I don’t hurt my back or anything else…anyway by 9 am it was to hot to be outside…this is not normal Florida Nov, weather…well all for now I will leave you with my sunrise I seen this morning….thanks for looking and come back soon blessing G&M..

MCINTOSH…FESTIVAL…...

Sights of McIntosh  Festival…

Last week the motor home and I took a trip to McIntosh FL to visit for a few days with RV pal Liz and fur kid Thistle…I went on Thurs. because she told me I could not make it thru town to the campground on Fri. they would be setting up for the craft show…below is a pic of the crowd at 8 am on Sat morning…

And the very next morning the same spot…looks like nothing happened the day before…tons of people came on sat. and they stayed all day…and I seen lots of packages and items walking around so me thinks the vendors had a great day…

There were a lot of booths that caught my attentions…this one had a bunches of sweet shell art… but I liked these turtles and sunflowers…not many shells in it tho…

Also there was a lot of yard art…I got a few pix…I really liked the butterflies…there was such a large crowd that it was hard to get any good pix…

More yard art…I think this was my favorite…made all from glass dishes , cups etc…it is hard to see but the large flower on the left side of pic…is made with scalloped iridescent plates..very pretty…I did not check the price…

This artist below sitting selling here painted canvases …also selling some seedlings…I liked her work also….

And something else I found interesting and really cute…was this lady walking her pet mini goat on a leash…she was the sweetest thing…and I think she was pregnant she had a pretty round belly….  

And the rest of the story…

A lot of things going on here some I can talk about and some I can not yet…I have started back with the church ladies and crafting with them for the bazar..tons of doc appt. for me and dad…keeps me running around..some legal appointments , is keeping me from doing any GTG or camping …I went over to Wickham a couple times …for some reason the campground has a different feel to it…I think it might be because of all the tent campers now camping in the main areas and not in the prim area…for some reason it seems a little sad to me…maybe when and if the snowbirds come it will be normal again…I have been checking this CG out for 5 years…two yrs. before I got my rig…so I know the feel of it…we will see…not even any day trips going on…did make the trip to McIntosh and will have more to b log about that…other wise that is it…my blood pressure has gone back up some since I got back to Florida…hmmmm..oh I am taking a road trip tomorrow not taking the rig..(checked with Google maps not good parking) taking dads car …The are having a Responsible Dog Ownership Day at Riverfront Park at Cocoa ..only a 30 min. drive..There will be rescue groups …breeders etc..I am not looking for a dog…but after my reaction when I went with Lori & Dock to the shelters I think I need to socialize with some doggies…I know sometime , someday my doggie will find me…Thanks for looking and come back soon …blessings G&M

ANGRY SEA & A CROOKED RIVER…

The angry sea..

This past Sunday RV friend Linda called to see what I was doing…I was doing nothing…so she came on over and we went out to eat then stopped over at the beach for a bit…so glad she came over …I sure am getting stir crazy and antsy….

And what we found was a very angry sea…I was not surprised they were saying on the news 7-9 foot waves…was so windy I thought we might get blown away…as you can see above pic…

Got a pic of a couple people walking next to the water line..so you might get a better feel for the wave action….we seen one lone person out in the waves…very very dumb idea rip current was bad…

I was over to the beach about 5 days before …and I was very surprised to see how the beach had changed in that time period…that ridge of sand you see in the above pic was not there at that time…it runs the whole way up the beach and is about 4 ft. deep….that is a lot of sand that these waves have pushed ashore…I am trying to figure this out…because when there are ruff seas I thought there was beach erosion and the sand went out to sea…guess I will have to research this…no shells were to be found they must have been buried under all that  sand…and there use to be about a doz. steps leading down to the beach….and I noticed the last couple time including this time that there are now only 6 steps…the rest is buried in the sand and the dunes definitely l have changed and look different…fascinating how the ocean changes things…

And the crooked river….

Pick below is the road leading into the park…moss laden oak trees…hanging over the road..beautiful entry….I did not walk into the park its self …rain was in the air and I did not want to get caught..so hiked back to the CG…did not do much else while I was here….so this is it for now thanks for looking and come back soon,…blessings G&M

A BIG WHEEL…

The last stop before….

before home base in Melbourne FL was at this campground…an RV friend was camping here so thought I would say “hey”…she is a pretty private person so wont show her or campsite ….Below is a pic of the entrance…that house looks most undesirable ….but it does add some character to the place…I did not get the story on it but it sure would make a neat B&B a great addition to the CG…that is if one would fix it up a little…

There are a lot of long term campers here…mostly snow birds…just a few miles from the Florida Georgia line…small RV park only about  35 sites…below is a neat old vintage TT…not a reproduction but the real thing…

Below is my site for 3 days…there are four right in a row that she saves for those over night’ers…I was in the first spot..more private that the others…I usually take a pic like this..than ask if you can see the sweet little black & white face looking at you… too sad for me this trip was…

Another view of my site…along with my newly made triple flag pole…all the sites are on cement slabs…so no need for a matt for just a short stay…I was able to enjoy eating at my picnic table a few times…there was a fire ring but I didn’t want to shell out the money to burn for the wood this time…

There is a woodsy atmosphere about the place lots of trees and it is on the edge of some woods but not far from St. Mary’s Georgia …below is the community building …they have pot luck dinners there every Sunday …the staff makes a big meat dinner and everyone brings a side dish…I left on a Sunday morning so missed that…there are restrooms with showers, laundry room…tables to use for games, cards or what ever…and a full kitchen that you can use anytime…books & cds to swap or use…very nice building….

A nice pond you can walk around …some wild life bunnies, birds and such….there is a fountain in the middle but it was off the day I decided to take some pix…they also have a fenced in off leash dog park…

And the rest of the story…

I have been back at camp driveway at dads for only 3 days…and got so depressed this afternoon I can barley stand it…. know one thing and that is I can not sit here for any length of time have to get out and about..so as I get some finances figured out I am headed to Wickham CG just to get away would like to if nothing else a couple day every 10 days or so…if no GTG going on…I have kept myself busy unloading the rig and trying to figure out where to put everything….neighbor friend that was keeping an eye on dad…came by last evening with her golf cart and two Labs and ask if I wanted to go for a ride to the park she was taking the dogs on an outing…the older dog has hip problems and cant walk much so she carts them down so the doggie can enjoy the park somewhat…then we went to her house she showed me the stain glass she worked on all summer had some wine and gabbed for a couple hrs.…turned out great ..she is the one I got the windows for..I will ask if I can take a pic next time and post it…The weather here has been wonderful for 3 days…high in the 70’s  lows in 60 for great sleeping and no humidity …but starting tomorrow it is going to warm up again…went to the back doc on Monday and he wants me to have those nerve test done …so got appointment for those in Nov….I am a wimp and I think those are a little on the uncomfortable side…not looking forward to that at all…Want to say that when I was staying at Inland Harbor CG with Lori and Dock…the took me to some animal shelters to look at some doggies…I seen a couple of Rat Terriers sisters that had just came in to the shelter a couple weeks ago…so we ask to see them in the social room…I just bawled my eyes out..they were sweet but not for me…I am just not ready yet ..even tho I am so lonely with out my girl…anyway thought I should mention I have looked a little…well that’s it for now thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings G&M…

INLAND HABOR….

Got to Inland Harbor RV Park…

exit shortly after noon…they are doing a lot of construction at this exit and it was kind of messy so I just pulled into a place that claimed to be some kind of out- let mall with a bunch of stores…well it looked a little on the dead side to me with empty stores ..when pulling further into the parking lot I seen a sign for an antique store…that looked very familiar…I have been here before…thought I might as well check it out again…while I was walking around I bumped my shin on something and bled like a stuck pig got that fixed up and  …got out of there seen Burger King and went in had lunch…some BK are better than others this one served dry burgers …then it was about 1/8 mile to the park…I took pix in the antique mall and will make a post about it later…

They don’t have camp host here but have a couple that manage the park …below is the office and the other half of the building is where they live…very nice set up..and they take great care of the park…I guess a couple years ago another manager let things go and it was not a pretty sight…now it is lovely to say the least…

The loops are not really loops but streets that end at the same place and you walk around and up and down the loops…that’s what I call them anyway…it is just  lines of rigs but the place is so nice and clean ..well manicured that it doesn’t bother me at least  …I love it here…I can see me spending a lot of time here…

And here is a pic of my sight…put my awning out and put up my flag…table cloth , chair and I call it home for 2 days…only one little thing missing a big important thing…

RV friends Lori & hubby Doc …live here about 9 months out of the year…below is one of the new sites they are putting in…should be ready by end of Oct… the one in pic below is where they will move their 5th wheel to…in the hottest part of the summer they take off to PA for a couple months…then back here….sounds good to me…I could live like that….

That night for a dinner we had appetizers …Doc made them …delish smoked salmon on rye with cream cheese spread & fruit and some wine…I took over some cheese and crackers to go with it…

SANTEE LAKES …

Got here….

to Santee Lakes Campground on Lake Marion in SC…decided to spend a couple nights here just to break up the WM camping I was getting tired of it…but it sure saved me some $$….I think camp grounds are expensive…maybe its because of being a Florida resident you get 1/2 off all state parks…and also I have the old peeps pass that is free for some things and 1/2 off COE camping…but this was a Good Sam so got 10% off…in pic below is the office and because of the shape and also how the camp ground is laid out makes me think it was once a KOA ….

it is looking more & more that CA is not the only state in a drought….this is a boat dock launch …the water is usually up to the platform you just step in or out of your boat…the lake is down at least 5 feet…I can walk right under the dock that is now beach…that use to be water…you can no longer launch a boat from this campground…many unhappy camper fisher people…

There are a lot of year round people at this camp ground…close to 85% are full time living here…some are decorated to the hilt…as you can see in the pic below…most are more conservative in their decorating..but most all have built some kind of deck along their rig…this is a little to much for even me…lol

Below is a nice deck…a lot of them also enclosed decks that make them an all season room…some really nice ones that one might see added on to the back of a home…like a Florida room…This is something I would like to do …have maybe a TT or 5th wheel set..and have a van for GTG and travel/camping…I don’t think I will ever full time ..things are just not going right for that and every year that passes I get older…and I found out with age one starts having health issues that make things/life more difficult …I do know I don’t want to live in a S&B any more and love the campground setting and feel…Maybe a jello plan?

And here is a really nice after sun set pic…sometimes it is not just the sunset that makes a beautiful pic…this was taken a few min after sunset …it was the only time I had seen the sun in about 10 days…notice the fluffy black clouds along the tree line in the back ground..that is 1-95…then take a look at the tree tops in foreground…big black foreboding storm clouds…this was a short lived sun event let me tell ya….and  I have only seen the sun peep out for a short time while driving since then….it has been a very gray trip…

not much of a story…right now I am visiting with rv friends Lori & Doc…in GA….very nice RV park…will be a post for the future…not sure where I will go next….if any where I am very close to Melbourne so must think about it…all for now thanks for looking and come back soon ..blessings G&M

A TRAIL IN THE CITY….

Well I  did find…..

something interesting at one of my WM over night stops….a hiking trail …well acutely it was between WM & Lowe’s…I went looking for a geocache …description said you could access beside Lowe’s…well I went to the parking lot and bummer that side was fenced off…did not know what to think…so went back to look at the description again and see that something else was there…and so walked over to the area and seen what was there in the pic below..

Now let me say that I drove right by this and did not see it…but just to say it is set back a little from the road way…so I said to self…this is the trail…I was expecting a geo-trail not a walk/hiking trail…big difference…geo-trail is just a well worn path that people have taken to get to a cache….

if you want to click the pix and get a better idea of what it is and where it goes….the cache is only in about 100 ft. but then goes off in the woods what looked like on my phone gps another 50 ft. or so….my phone is not as accurate as a regular gps…if I had my other one I might have found it…

I did not walk far on the trail as it was already noon and I had to be on my way…but I did find some really strange looking fungus on a tree the pic above…I have never seen anything like it..anyone know….?

All the fungus I seen today was white…and a little green liken very stark in this dark wet forest…it had been raining all night and was gloomy day so it was very dark and damp along the trail and in the woods…

This was my last WM camp for a few days…when I left there went to Santee Lakes Campground in SC…still rainy and gloomy…but just before sun set …the sun did come out for a bit …just enough for this great pic of the sun setting…this camp ground is on lake Marion …an older camp ground in the woods…and of course everything is wet and damp…but at least it is not black top..I have been here since Friday afternoon it is now Sunday morning and I will be leaving for another WM over night…then on Monday I will stop in Georgia to visit Women RV forum sister Lori…there was not much to do here but walk around the loops …I think this is an old KOA…so it  has no walking trails or anything….I will make another post about it soon….I have learned a few things this trip about the rig…myself and camping…some good and some not so good…as always I am still grieving over my Maggie and that has made this trip different in its own way…it could have been different with its own learning curve….I know it would have been a much better and happier trip for sure…
