OF DUCKS AND GEESE…

Sesquicentennial St Park…

What is a hike…I have no hiking boots…climbed no cliffs..or mountains…but we did walk on a hiking trail…the trail around the lake..a 2 mile walk…or hike…any way when we started out seen this little duckling playing around in the water close to the bank…mama was standing the grass watching …when we got closer she jumped in the water with him…this was the only baby she had…kinda made me sad wondering what happened to the rest of the brood…

on up the lake I seen a group of girls feeding ducks and geese…when we walked up there I seen this mama duck with 16 ducklings…I counted them but could never get them all in ma pic…I wondered if she took some away from the other mama…seemed like a lot of babies for one mama to me…

With these duck were a few geese with their babies milling around…babies are soooo cute…

I turned and walked down the paved path to start our walk around the lake…the first few hundred feet is a paved sidewalk…

Just before you cross the bridge are a group of very old and large Live Oak trees…my pic does not do these majestic trees justice

Then were you see those people in the background of the pic..there is this water fall…I could hear it all the way to where I was standing…so went over to take a look see…beautiful …I think it is a man made water fall…actually there is another one just below it

I will post more pic of our hike/walk in the next post..I think this pooped Maggie out …she came home and slept most of the morning away…I did some chores …got the sewing machine out and did some crazy quit block making…it was very gray and dreary out not a very pleasant day to be out side…but later it did clear up so we went for another walk thru the campground…I said yesterday that the camp sites were  not so great…but after walking around and looking up close …I could see that I was wrong about most of them…when I was driving around looking for a spot..I did not see them well not sure why ..but it did teach me a lesson..get of the rig and look…I did take some pic so will post about them and the rest next time…going to finish packing up and get moving down the road.. so this is it for now…thanks for looking and come back soon..

DAY 3

We left camp…

Wal Mart around 9am….looking for a nice State Park to camp in for a couple days…ended up at Sesquicentennial State Park..I stayed here on my way back to Florida last fall…Below is a pic our pull thru site and  of Maggie checking out the site and looking for squirrels…

and again the picnic table is way to far for me to use and to heavy for me to move…it would be nice to eat out there with out having to carry my food so far…

In this pic is the view out the door..nice carpet of pine needles…keeps the dirt down…the sites mostly not level (changed my mind about sites will show pix and post about it)…there are a few tho that you can wiggle around and find a level part.. that is what I did with this one…this is I piney forest on hills…with roots all over the place…a few sites for larger rigs…most for small and tents ….I will take more pix tomorrow…

Maggie pic of the day…so you know about how big she is…she weights just under 10lbs and stands at the shoulder just under 12 in…she is small just the right size for a show dog…some day I will tell you her story and how I got her…maybe for her birthday in July…

And the rest of the story…

we left I-95 at I-26 heading in land to I-77 heading north…I use to go up 95 the whole way to VA …but I really hate that highway…a few years ago I took I –81out of Winchester VA (my daughter and family live in Winchester)  heading south to Florida… then hit 77 to 26 then 95 on down to Melbourne…this driving is so much better than the I-95 race track..it is a little more hilly …but being from PA this is not much of a problem for me…so this is the route I take now when traveling back and forth….some day I will take it easy and see the USA on the secondary roads slow and easy taking my time and enjoy…I do enjoy my trips now because it gets me out and on the road…and I love the campgrounds esp. the State Parks….my fav at this point…Tomorrow I want to walk one of the trails … might be doing this in the AM before it gets to hot…thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all G&M

DAY 2

Was a very uneventful…

travel day…and it was hot…We left Walkabout camp ground about 10am again…late starts but we are in no hurry…stopped at a FlyingJ a short distance away for gas…Then we stopped at  a WM for lunch and bought some food to last for a couple days…as that my plan was to stay at a state park this night and maybe stay 2 days…but I got tired along the way and only made it to Walterboro SC…so we spent the night at the WM there…I have stayed here before…

is posted all over the parking lot…but they still let you over night here….under this sign is a geocache…

As you can see in the pic below…welcome to over night…there were 6 rigs and about 4 trucks that stayed the night…last year when I stayed here there were over a doz. rigs…

Really not to much to tell…and that is a good thing when one travels…we left about 10 or so and stopped at about 3…the roads in southern part of SC…are a big pot hole mess..must have been the hard winter they had…so today I am headed to a state park hope being the weekend I can get a spot for 2 days…if not camp WM again…anyway I need to get on the road…thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all G&M

2014…PA TRIP DAY ONE…

We got off to….

a slightly late start this morning…I had to wait for the WM pharmacy to open at 9…so was a little before 10 when we actually left Melbourne..in pic below is our lunch stop found a shady spot in a parking lot by a Target store…we spent an hr. for lunch…had to elevate my legs…

And this was our….

first over night stop…it is just to hot for boon docking need my A/C  ….so I opted to hit  a campground…Linda suggested Walkabout in GA…so that is were we called it a day this is our spot below….

it is a nice little stop over CG…no shade …sites are all pull thru and level…I think the site below  is the camp host spot…a beautiful fence full of honeysuckle…smelled divine!..

it had a cute little bird house nestled in the middle of it…I love honeysuckle….I remember my grandparents on my moms side …had it behind their garage….

They have a nice pool… but I did not take advantage of it…by the time I got set up …took Maggie for a walk…ate …it started to thunder so figured I  would not like to chance it…lighting not thanks….

They also have a couple small trails…but again with storms brewing…this will have to be for some other time…if I stop here again…

And the rest of the story…

It was pretty much an uneventful trip…the traffic was ok…racing down the highway way to fast for me…that part makes me nervous… I only drove 210 miles today this is really not very far for me….I use to drive several 100 miles at a time…it took me 5 hrs just to do 210. I stopped 3 times my legs held up pretty good but my hands really hurt after a couple hrs…gripped the wheel to hard I guess..…bad me ..after I got set up with elec and water…I did not check the faucets to make sure they were turned off….yikes…Maggie was grrr’ing at something by the bathroom door…I went over to check and there it was.. water running all over the floor…the sink faucet  in bathroom was on and of course the stopper was in…and it over flowed….thank goodness for nosey Maggie…lol…we are all settled in for the night…not any good stations on the TV…so it might be an early night…I think tomorrow night if it is still so hot… we will be staying at a state park in SC…I will post this in the morning so it will be a day behind..all for now thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all  G&M

WHAT ELSE….

What else…

but the weather would you blog about if you were in Florida…this is what the news had on the local morning shows…rip current, hot sand…over 100 rip current rescues in Daytona Beach yesterday…same expected today if not more…and a pic of the temps in pic below…

New birds…

in the neighborhood the other day….I was sitting in the RV….and heard this awful noise out site it sounded like a big flock of birds killing each other…so I jumped up ran out to take a look see…and found only two birds!! Birds that I have never seen here before…loved it ..very big green parrots…beautiful…did not know that they were so noisy tho..

They were back the next morning making same noise…but this time they were hanging around the woodpecker’s home…in pic below you can see one of them perched there ….I did see them poke their heads in the hole…wondering do parrots nest in holes like this…?? anyway I was thrilled to see these birds…

not much to tell this day…still getting ready to head north and you can only say so much about that and I think I have said most of it …right now I am sitting here at Wickham CG over night the usual dump tanks before I leave..its so hot no way I can do anything outside…can do a short walk in the mornings and that’s about it…so as it stands now I am very happy about leaving Florida as far as the heat goes….well guess that’s it for now…just wanted to do a short post and take advantage of the free wifi…so thanks for looking and come back soon…

WELL YOUR GPS WILL…..

Work better soon….

Last evening shortly after 8pm…looked up at the TV to see this…I knew it was lifting off today but forgot about the time…this Atlas IV rocket carried a new satellite that goes in a block of 12 that run our GPS system…they are replacing / updating them…so says the newsman….and will make the system much more accurate …. just what we need when traveling and geocaching…in the pic below is what it looked like on the TV…when ever there is a launch the local TV stations break in programing and show it…very interesting living on the Space Coast of Florida…

And in this pic …is what it looked like from the back yard…could see it good and hear the roar very well also…if I you look to the right about 1/4 down you can see a tiny white spot…that is the actual rocket…the sun was shining and reflecting of off it…the trail was cool also with the sun reflecting off it also…it does not show up in the pic at all… silver and gold color..I sure wish I had a good camera…these rocket launches are awesome….

And this is what…

I have been working on for the big event in July…my first Great grand child!!! A little girl if you believe the ultra sound…I am making a quilt/blanket for her…here are the blocks …a work in progress as are the bibs I decided to make yesterday…using pink wash clothes…Today I finished everything and have it all pinned ready to sew..I am a little nervous about sewing it together…as it is my own design and not sure how it will go…and also I have not done any sewing for 30 years…that’s a long time ..lol..

And here is a Maggie pic …inspecting this silly looking frog that hopped on her patio….it is one that I made about 15 years ago…use to sell them in my store…this one is in my frog garden here at dads…I get him out of the garden and clean him up ..spray him with sealer once a year…then back he goes…she was not really sure what to make of him…she is so nosey …anything new or different in her world and she hast to investigate it or bark it to death…lol..I had just cleaned him up and he was sitting there getting dry when she discovered him…

And the rest of the story…

well there is really not much of a story at this time just the same old getting ready to travel…the weather is very nice this morning 60 when I got up…so this and tomorrow..as it will be cool again….. will be a trim up the bushes out back and finish up the FR…because both places get very hot and I can not work out there…so that will be done soon as I get this post done…so I will leave it here…thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all ..G&M

A COUPLE OF CACHES….PLANS CHANGE

When we went to …..

JoAnne Fabric the other day…we stopped at the Melbourne Mall ..it is right across the road…had lunch and we were looking for a cache…take a look at this cool dark forest..cool meaning it is not hot there (just warm after all this is FL..…and cool as in neat also….

This forest is only about 100 or so feet wide and a little longer than the Mall parking lot…but when you inter…stepping form the lot it is like walking into a whole other world…I think of it as maybe Robin Hood's forest…expecting the merry men jumping around any minute…..Probably more like homeless men…that would take the enchantment out of it real quick…

And here is the cache hiding in the base of a tree with some brush covering it…if you look real hard you can see a mini flashlight hanging in there…it was hard to find took me two try’s ..the cords are off somewhat…so after expanding my search area I found it…the first time a security guard was helping…he knew about it but had never seen it…he was not around this second try …

Another one we found recently …is locate near our favorite ice cream stand..not far from dads..love the chocolate/peanut butter flavor…I have to control my self from going there several times a week…I sure could do that ….it seems in my senior years I have grown a fondness for ice cream…I went here on a Sun. morning no muggles around….the cache is over by the lattice fence..

This is a pic of the cache…I made this much harder than it should have been…I looked all over that fence cause that is where it was…gave up walked back to the rig…turned around walked back over…looked down …realized that I had not looked there…well that was it…

And the rest of the story….

Well things have changed as far as departure date is concerned..was planning on the 24th but just seen on the calendar that is Memorial Day weekend…so that is out…so now the 28th is what I am shooting for..took dad to doc on Mon. needed to get his pace maker check (every 6 mo.) well he had the wrong day…so will be doing that on Wed. morning again…will work  in Florida room packing up art/craft stuff…then at 5 pm I am going over to sew and craft with the church ladies…working on the quilt/blanket for GGD…hope to get it done before I leave here…so I can leave it with them on my way north…I am really into crazy quilts…found another bag of scrap material in the FR…so got those all ironed up and sorted …have a 1/2 large tote full …so soon as I get everything ready to leave and all my work is done then I can play…. I want to start sewing them together…I went to pinterest and searched crazy quilt…oh my! this is not your grandmother crazy quilt.. amazing what they do with embellishments on the quilts these days….no craft stuff will be going with me except the sewing stuff….well its getting hot …and I need to get busy so …thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all ….G&M
