BIRDS IN THE HOOD

WOOD STORKS
I think these are Wood Storks. With Stork in your name you would think they would be pretty…enchanting…NOT…I think they are sort of ugly…sorry bird lovers…I love birds to but I know pretty when I see it and know when not. We have a bout a dozen or so that hang around the home park. Click on pic to see close up…if not Wood Storks please tell me what they are….
EARLY MORNING ROOST

Here is a flock of Ibis. Every morning about 6:30 am when on our walk we see these birds roosting in these bushes next to the river. They are so heavy in the body looks like they will fall of the branches! I even managed to get a few in flight. I like these birds they come right up in the yard and eat creepy crawlers. One thing I don’t like about FL.
THE ROOKERY

This is another scene we hear and see on our morning walk. These squawking and flapping Great Blue Heron.  It must be the start of nesting and mating season…they are starting to keep to the nests and make a heck of a lot of noise.
NESTING

It is so nice to have a Great Blue Heron rookery in the hood. I know of at least 6 nests. These large pine trees that they are nesting in are right next to the river.
AND THEN WE HAVE THIS BIRD

Again we have a Pelican in the spot light. This happened a few days ago at the home park, the two boys in the back were fishing off this pier, on the other side of the river from where I was. All the time here the Pelicans are present and always dive bombing the water for fish. One of the boys caught a fish was reeling it in and this  Pelican went after it and got its self hooked. The boys tried for about 20 min. trying to get him free. Finally this man that was watching the whole thing walked up and helped them out. (took him long enough ) , and it still took him a good 20 min or so to free the bird.
So there you have it…some of the birds in my hood! Thanks for looking and come back soon.

PROGRESSING……

Well two days in a row I was able to back MySweetDream into this parking place at the home park. Right click to enlarge so you can see better. I got there early both days but as you can see the lot was filling up fast with trucks and boat trailers. There were a few fishermen around but I thought hey ….it needs to be done and if they want to  watch who cares….Now I have been practicing a little in dad’s drive way…but remember he has a about 20 ‘ X 40’ drive….maybe a little bigger and there is nothing in it so really that should be easy….lol….I did pretty good at it. But let me tell ya I really did good with this…backing up between the trailer and grass….pulled up looked out all windows…and backed right in…first try…Yaaay ….. happy camper here…Making progress with the rig.
I have not done any decorating at all…I guess since I am not living in it ….makes a difference. I was looking at gypsy BOHO’s blog and her whimsy way of decorating her rig…. and guess it got me in the mood to do something….so since it is Christmas time and I had a couple things that I would start with that. I think for over all decorating to make it homey I would like to do beach and some vintage. Mix it all up. With some whimsy in there also. Light’in things up…make it fun….The whimsy here is some red and white polk a dot poinsettias and that vintage elf…
While we were  parked doing our thing….I opened the door to go out and almost got knocked over by this guy flying up on our roof. Squawking and carrying on like a banshee. There were two of them and they chased each other all over the park. Some body must have been encroaching on the others territory. One of them looked a little ragged like missing feathers on his body.
And here is my sweet little Maggie girl….watching and supervising everything going on. Started to rain so went to WM then back to dad’s. Doing some laundry and going to watch the Steelers win today. And that’s my day. Thanks for looking and come back soon.

BLUE HERON & MAGGIES NEW RIDE

 I am beginning to think I live in a Blue Heron reserve. On my morning walk in the neighborhood, there are 5 Blue Heron nest in these giant pine trees. It must be nesting season, there is a lot of noise and flapping of wings going on.

 I have a really bad camera so right click on the pics to see better. I am almost to embarrassed to post these pic''s. Next year I am getting a new camera. I am thrilled to see all these birds! There could be more than 5 pair but that is how many I have seen so far. I have not seen the guy that visits our front yard everyday. He must be busy lol

And last but not least :) Maggie got a new dogie mobile. Is she not the cutest thing! I got this dog stroller at the flea market yesterday. I have been looking in the pet stores, and all they have are ugly black strollers. Besides being ugly, black will bake a little dog in the hot Florida sun. What do these people think anyway?? They have a nice little pet shop at the flea market and I had seen these there last year. So went to check them out and got this one. It comes apart, and is a carrier, and a car seat. Cant beat that. And was a few buck cheaper than the ugly black ones. She seams to like it ok, I wheeled her around the house then in the drive way today and she did ok. She hates to have her pic taken, when I was trying to take this, she turned her head away, I told her I see a kitty and she jerked around and I snapped it lol. This will come in handy when traveling, she can now go everywhere with me and we can be tourist & see things. Was limited before, cause could not leave her in hot truck. OFF LINE AND A CACHE

Found a cache in the parking lot at this location. There is one further down in the sanctuary that I found when I first started. This is a new one just out not long ago. This place is really run down no one taking care of it. I never see anyone here. I see several Blue Herons flying over my house thu out the summer. I live between to large lakes. Man made lakes. The cache. I have been off line for a couple weeks due to the fact that I used up my 5,000 Verizon G-bites. Took me awhile but think I figured it out. I have been uploading more pic's than I used to. I have been doing altered art swaps on my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ .

Any way now I have to play catch up. I had a yard sale today with the rest of the neighbors and did pretty good. I have found several cache in the last couple weeks that I will post about. Still want to take a road trip to Lake Erie before the end of the month. Well that's it for now thanks for looking and come back soon
