MANATEE LOOK-OUT & COOL BRIDGE…

The other day….

I had to take dad for his doctor check up…that building behind the sign is the office…it was not too hot yet so went for a walk…I ended up across the river at this little park…Melbourne is full of this little parks…this place is where Manatee come in from the Indian River (intercostal water way) in the winter where the water is warm…lot of tourist come here looking for them…

20150422_094958_resized

Standing at the sign looking down the walk way sheltered pavilions and benches …this is a very quiet and peaceful place to pass some time…to the right and across a large parking lot is the Old Town of Melbourne,….lots of shops you might see in a tourist area…this weekend they are having an Art Show on the main street I am trying to make a plan to go…take the RV early to that large parking lot and spend the day…I have to go early because this is a very popular show and very busy…and I need to get a parking place…my problem is the weather…it is going to be hot and humid temp 91 ….so to keep cool when needed…I will have to run the generator …not sure if that will be a problem or not….anyway I am still thinking about it….There is more to this park but this is where I was this day…

20150422_095018_resized

Turning around and looking the other way ….is the bridge that a walked across from the Doc office to get here…so this is the way I went to look for more interesting things…and I didn’t have to go far to see some…

20150422_095046_resized

The brick walk way went all the way underneath the bridge there is more of the park on the other side…and take a look at what I saw!! so very cool…and a neat surprise…all the cement pillars were painted with typical Florida…artful scenery …the ocean beach ….I spent a lot of time looking at it all…both sides of the road the pillars were painted….on all four sides…

20150422_095215_resized

On the other side were surfer's …light houses… birds and even a fisherman…amongst other cool things…I think it is great when one runs across things like this totally out of the blue and unexpected…another thing about this is it is very clean and well kept…. signs stating no loitering or littering under the bridge ….the Melbourne Parks and Rec’s take very very good care of the parks…

A few more pic’s of the art work….

Sail boats and looks like a Blue Heron…

20150422_095831_resized

I did have a problem when I thought about walking across the bridge …(not liking high places)…but I decided I need to try and do something about this problem..maybe a little at a time on some not so high places like this bridge….the time of crossing I was not sure what I was more afraid of…the height or the traffic that was buzzing by way to fast…it is US 1 that runs up the east coast from Key’s to Maine…and in most places in my area of Florida they drive way to fast…and I mean fast…just up the the road from here is where that guy hit my Toyota truck and knocked it clear off the road and and into a parking lot in a 35 speed zone… way over 35 he was traveling….

20150422_100647_resized

Anyway I made it over and back…US 1 is also a scenic byway…in Melbourne it is very busy and fast…with lots of vehicles I tried to get a break in the traffic to get a pic…this bridges cross over the Crane Creek that flows into the Indian River Lagoon…I do admit that there is a lot of things to see and do along this highway…I have thought I would like to travel it from one end to the other…but maybe avoiding when it goes thru big cities…

And the rest of the story…

Still not much going on around camp drive way…it is  getting way to hot for even a day trip… this tin box heats up real fast…and if you cant find a shady place to park …no trip…I am still planning on heading  to PA for the summer…not sure yet when but getting things ready to roll…not sure what  I will do today but will find something…all for now thanks for looking and come back soon….blessings to all..G&M

MORE THIS & THAT…

This was the sun rise….

on Easter morning at my Home Park..(just around the corner from dads) …I went there to attend  sun rise service that a local church does but they were not there this year,,,so we just enjoyed the sun rise…thinking about the “Son That Rose”…it was a beautiful morning and day,..I had planned on spending the whole day there so I took the RV and we watched all the families and boaters that came for the day also…was a little sad…wished I had some family here to spend a special day with…any day for that matter…all my family is “up north” as they say…

20150405_072117_resized

Not long after sun rise this man came along and put this boat in …he was from State Law Enforcement…

20150405_073025_resized

The next thing I know he is over on the other dock talking with this fishermen…as time went on I could see he was doing a safety check….I see them doing this often when it is a holiday and this place is packed with boaters of all kinds ….kayaks…canoes …water boards…but really this place is mostly packed each weekend… they check good for life jackets…I seen them pull out kayakers that had no LJ …I know if I want a good place to park the rig I have to get here just before day break…I back in by the dock so that I have grass out the door with the water right there…then I set up my chair and Maggie's bed and we are good for the day…

20150405_073722_resized

As it was still early morning there was a flock of young  white Ibis that came along… here are a couple you can tell they are young because the are still molting their brown plumage…

20150405_071158_resized

In the pic below is what they were wading around in the river for…if you click on the pic it will look like it is raining on the water…but it really is Mullet a bait fish that hang around this water way….fisher people come here daily to throw their casting nets out to catch these bait fish..it makes me wonder where they all come from..one would thing that they are all fished out…but not so…

20150405_071232_resized_1

The fish on this day were very very small…like only an inch or two big…pretty soon along came a whole bevy of birds…after these ity bity morsels….this was really fun watching this cycle of life…felt bad for the fish…but we would not have the beautiful wild life with out them…what upset me this day was that some idiot  caught a bunch of the Mullet and instead of returning them to the river they emptied the net on shore and let them die…the birds will not eat the dead fish…this happened before I got there as I did not see them do this..the Mullet that were here at this time were too small to use as bait fish…stupid people..

And the rest of the story…

That was the first outing I have had since I came back from HL….so not much going on ..I have started to pack up my art/craft room (to keep out mildew over the hot humid summer) cause I decided to head to PA for the summer…I think my dad is doing better…even a neighbor lady though so…so I got people lined up to keep an eye on him and I am headed out…not sure when yet…need to see that Great Granddaughter…she will be a year old in a couple months and I haven't see her since she was about 6weeks old…the weather here is just like summer hot humid and thunder storms each late afternoon and early evening…it got bad  last night tornado warning came up on TV so I unplugged and went in the house for the night…my glasses broke a couple weeks ago…I was hoping the would hold off until I can get my cataracts removed…the were old and I knew they were not in good shape…so I went to WM with an old prescription I had (last summer doc could not get my prescription good so I could see better) so the old one will do for now…got a cheap pair at WM…they called last night they were in so I will go get them today…all I got for now thanks for looking and come back soon …blessings to all G&M

SIGHTS OF HARDEE LAKES….

Sun rise over the lake….
I am up before sun rise most everyday…due to weather at Hardee Lakes there were not many sun rises  to photograph …but one morning I did get this beautiful shot…the sun with a little haze on the lake….I sat and watched it for long time…enjoying the solitude and quiet…
20150331_072558_resized
And the very next morning taken from the my same rocking chair…totally different scene …and it was beautiful in it’s own way…the picture does not do it justice …there was so much fog and dew I thought it was  raining the first hr. I was awake before I went out side…only drops on the roof coming of the trees…
20150401_073113_resized
This was a sight along the trail around the lake….looked to me like a deep forest of hanging moss from Robin Hoods Sherwood Forest in medieval times…almost can see the Merrimen hiding behind the moss…but it really looks like old Florida….
20150330_105958_resized
And about 3/4 the way around…(at the land bridge) there is a pavilion with a stage and picnic tables…and this boardwalk taking of in another direction is a hiking trail also…I did not take this trail…still taking care of my back…when I took a look on Google maps there were a lot of neat looking trails…hopefully in the fall I can do more…
20150330_112024_resized
And this is the land bridge that connects the two lakes at this end of the 1250 acre park…the campground is around the one on the right…it seems that now that mating season is here and warm sunny weather alligators lay along the edge close to the water …not a lot just a couple…lol… and not all the time…
20150330_112746_resized
Well I certainly had a very fun and peaceful time last week …This was my plan for retirement…full time on the road until such a time I was tired of it or until I could no longer do it…but for now I am living in Florida so that my 90 year old father is not alone.... I am going to PA for a few months…I think I will leave before Memorial  Day in order to stop in VA so see daughter and family that includes my new Great Granddaughter…I seen her in Sept. she will be a year old in July…then on to see my youngest grandchild Brooke (sons daughter) graduate from Meadville High School….also might be able to meet up with a few of my RV friends from the Women RV forum ….not sure how long I will be gone…I have people looking out for my dad…well all for now thanks for looking and come back soon …blessings to all G&M

A BLOOD MOON….

This is a pic…

of the moon that I saw at Hardee Lakes the other night…it was darker than what this pic is showing…not quite full…but tonight a full moon will be a blood moon…

20150331_193700_resized

Blood Moon is sometimes used to describe a Total Lunar Eclipse. When the Earth casts its shadow on a Full Moon and eclipses it, the Moon may get a red glow.

total-lunar-eclipseInternet  picture

Total lunar eclipses are rare – only about one in three lunar eclipses are total. About four to five total eclipses can be seen at any place on Earth in a decade.

Lunar eclipses usually do not occur in any specific order. However, every once in a while, four total lunar eclipses happen in a row. This is called a lunar tetrad. The total lunar eclipses happen 6 months apart. There are at least six full Moons between two total lunar eclipses in a tetrad

Another End-of-the-world Prophecy?

Some people believe that the tetrad has special significance because the eclipses coincide with important Jewish festivals. The two April lunar eclipses in 2014 and 2015 occur at the same time as Passover, while the October and September eclipses occur during the Feast of Tabernacle. This, they suggest, is connected to a biblical prophecy of the end of times.

The fact is, eight of the tetrads since the first century have coincided with Jewish holidays without the world going under, so there is no reason to believe that the 2014-2015 tetrad will end the world this time either.

This is the time in my area Melbourne FL…got it from the net…

HEADING OUT….

Maggie gassing up….

ready to get on the road to Hardee Lakes campground…she likes to drive Winking smile this was on the March 26th…about 150 miles…took us about 4 or so hrs. to get there…we stopped a couple times…first stop was Vero Beach at some outlet stores…ate lunch and rested the back and took a walk …

20150326_092134_resized

When we got there Linda & Sandy were already there…they came up from Ortona Locks Campground…below my site…same lake different view…just up a couple down  from where I was last month at the GTG…

20150326_165646_resized

The main reason for this trip ..I had made an appointment with the Camp Host who also happens to be ON SITE RV Techs…to have my roof caulked and awning looked at and fixed if possible…

20150329_132922_resized

George taking a look to see what the problem might be…and he figured it out right away…the switch thing you have to flip before pulling out the awning was jammed not sure how that happened but could be when the guy fixed the bracket that holds the arm to the rig….anyway he got the job done….

20150329_122114_resized

And there is the awning that has been hiding for the last year…it has been almost a year since I had it out…was not broken all that time..when I was in PA this summer did not use it…and it broke some time since I got back to FL… I was surprised that it was not all moldy and mildew …Happy I can use it again.

20150329_123706_resized

And the rest of the story…..

Like I said the purpose for the trip was to get work done…well when we got there on Thru. it was beautiful weather wise…but shorty went down hill…was cold and rained all day on Friday…we figured that would be a good time to go grocery shopping and what ever else need done…because you sure couldn’t do anything camping…I did talk to the rangers and it was ok to extend my stay so I did that and staying a week…the roof had to be cleaned and prepped for the caulking and had to wait out the weather for that…then had wait for it to dry….anyway it got done and I am very pleased with the job George did all around…I have more about our week here will do more post about it later…thanks for looking and come back soon …..Blessings to all G&M
