Got up Christmas morning went to the beach for sun rise. Daughter and son in law and the fur babies. Got this pic of some pelicans fishing for breakfast. It was cloudy that day and was hard to get sunrise.Our county does not allow dogs on the beach. (but they are making one to open in Feb.) So we to the dog stroller. Small dogs but it is a small stroller so they were a little tight in there. Maggie does not like pic taking and always turns her head away. Daughters dog Joey is front and center. I think I will be getting one of these in the next few months, when I was at the mall the other day I saw a woman there in the mall with dog in stroller. She said they don't mind.
WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FLORIDA : Brrrrrrrrrr cold, 35 this morning. Blue sky and sunny but cold. 51 now at 12:45 pm. Family does not like pic's taken so no more pic's :( We had a good time went to the beach alot. Looking for shells and drift wood for her to paint on. We got alot. Dad put a tent on the tomato's last nite, and will tonite but then it is suppose to get warmer. He doesn't think we will get another cold snap. My feet are much better, taking walk in the mornings about 5 min each way, and can walk around house with little pain. I hope this will post, I did one yesterday on my other blog and this morning it was gone. I went back in and clicked on it to publish a couple more times, so if ever does show up it might be there 3 times lol. All for now thanks for looking and come back soon.

TOMATO'S FOR CHRISTMAS! & A BIRD

This one is for you Judy! I will toast you at Christmas dinner with my salad lol. So nice having winter tomato's fresh off the vine. Mmmmmm good!This one's for you also Judy, if you happen to read this post. What is it? He (or she) looks like a he to me, comes to the front yard often. This was taken one day last week, Maggie was sitting on the bed looking out the window and took off in a fit, when he happened by. In PA birds in the front yard, were robins and house sparrows. She was always yapping at them to get out of "her" yard, but this guy really set her off. He sat down and stayed for awhile, just agitate her I guess lol. Any way I think he is pretty cool and I'm not sure what he is. Went to the post office about 5 times in the last two day's and there is always a line out door. WHAT'S NEW (not much)

Since landing in Florida in Sept. not much has been going on. Still going to physical therapy for my feet, that finally are getting better. Hope soon to be doing walking exercise again. A week or so ago Maggie and I took a road trip. Looking for camp grounds for future fun. Found this county park about 40 min away. County park so you don't have to pay to have a look around.Some residents at the park. One ugly bird, or a couple lolThis is one of the water sites in the park. The park is along the inter coastal waterway in Brevard Co. Tents or RV's can camp next to the water. Reservations or first come. Weekend are busy and need res. Couple of tenter's next to RV's. This is real nice park. Not to big don't know how many sites there are. I talked to this man for awhile, he is fishing off the dock. He and his wife come here often. If I remember right they are from northern FL. Had a very nice talk. He did not make his reservations soon enough for the week end and did not get a water front spot. Here is a geocache next to our motel on the way down. Typical fence post cache. I have not been caching much yet, do to feet, only park & grabs that I can drive right up to. This is the cache.
Well feet are getting better, I go to doc on Monday to get casted for orthodox I have the general run of the mill in my shoe now and they do help. Daughter and son in law coming for Christmas will be glad to see family, miss my northern family. Will be doing some road trips and caching soon, so I will be posting more. I have been posting on my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com because I have been doing craft / art work, cause I can sit and do it. Doing some swaps and making Christmas presents. DIGGIN, FLOATING CLASS C & A CACHE

I had to turn my water off before I left. I was leaving in Sept. so I started the process in July. Because the shut of was cemented the bottom of my drive way and I knew this would be a problem. To make a very long story short the water Co. dropped the ball and the pic you see below was the day before I was to leave. They finally got it done, but my drive way is not finished. They just put gravel in it and will cement it again when I get there next summer. They said they would come up and do it some time this fall or next spring, I said, no you will wait till I get back. After all that went on, I do not trust them to do the job right. I was on my way to the beach the other day and saw this on the river while crossing the causeway. A barge with a class C motor home on it. It was just sitting there pretty close to the causeway. When I came back there was a tug boat trying to move it back to where ever it belongs. I think it got loose and driffed there. I wonder why the Class C was on it in the first place?This was a cache I found on the way down here. Was a real anchor very big. Was a key magnet so was easy, but me, I made it hard. lol. But I did finally find it.
I am still dealing with my feet. I go to the doctor tomorrow will see what he has to say. They are better but I cant do normal things like my walking exercise or even go shopping. Have not been doing much went to the beach a couple times. We had that bad storm last weekend and are suppose to have another one today and tomorrow, but it is not as bad as they thought. Here its just cloudy gray and misting rain. Been working on some art swaps I joined you can check that out on my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com Dad had some blossoms on his tomato's but I think that wind got them last weekend. There is a cache in there but not where you might think. Found this one on Sunday while caching with my Maggie. Not a hard find, but lots of mugglers around, as it is in a golf course.This is another magnet key holder cache we found, Maggie girl sniffing it out. She has to inspect every cache we get. lolI left this little Travel Bug in the above cache. He rolled all the way down from PA with us. Stopped to visit a cache on the way, but ended up here. Cute little thing. And just fit in this container. I have been taking it easy on my feet since I got here. The shot I got in the one heel, did not start to feel better until Tues. I went back to doc on Wed. and he gave me shot in each heel this time. Said I had Achilles tendinitis in the other one. What I thought was a heel spur turned out to be something else but don't ask what. I don't know. Any way they both feel better today. I am still going easy on walking for a few more days. Scrubbed some lawn chairs and things like that this last week. Dad planted tomato's couple weeks ago they are doing great. Fresh home grown end of Dec. Maybe for Christmas!! I might plant a couple things, now that I am in a better mood. Health issues make bad moods. Got my art studio done enough I can work in there. GOT THIS......

HERE........WELCOME CENTER We are now in Florida. Left late on Thurs. day morning about 8:30 hit rain as soon as we got on I-95. We were almost at the GA-FL border. So when we got to the stopped to wait out the rain.

Got our free cup of OJ and walked Maggie around and were on our way again. No sooner on 95 and it was raining. I did that all morning, sometimes I had to pull off could not see. So much for stopping along the way to take a look at Florida. Finally I go on US 1 so I could pull of anywhere and not wait till I came to an exit. So it took me all day to get to Melbourne.

I have had a few health issues so that's the delay in posting. I got another cold and was not feeling the best. Also my feet have been bothering me alot this summer and came to a head this last week while traveling. I had to find a Doctor and lucky I got in on Friday. Got a shot in the heel and it is now getting much better. Went to a festival down in old town yesterday with Pearl, I will post about that on my other blog. http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ Today I scrubbed the cealing in the FL room so I can get my art/craft set up. Foot did not like the ladder so now I will rest it the rest of the day. It was so bad I could hardly walk. I have some caches we found along the way and will post about those this week. STILL ON THE ROAD & CACHING

See this was hiding there.

In a wall mart parking lot. We left a little later today 8:30 am. Maggie kept me awake alot last nite. She growled or barked at every little noise. Had breakfast on the way and stopped a little while later. The we stopped at WM for lunch, I found that it sure is cheaper that fast food. Both days spent $7 and had enough for lunch and supper. Was raining and lot of fog when we left this morning. Then in the afternoon well into GA we hit storms and rain, so hard had to pull over. So about 3:30 we stopped and called it a day. It stopped storming so we went out and found a few geocaches, and had our supper and now waiting for saviour to come on. We only have about 4 1/2 to 5 hrs to left to Melborune. I want to take it slow and maybe see a few things on the way. Might even check the maps and get of the interstate for awhile. Thats all for now thanks for looking and come back soon

ON MY WAY SOUTH !

A cache I found last week. I kept looking in all the wrong places, I should go with what my eyes see first!

This was hid in that geo wood pile.
Sunday ended the show and my daughter did well. Did not do much after that ended at 5 pm.

Monday daughter and I went to a grand opening of the new Hobby Lobby in Winchester. WOW!What great deals they had. Everything I bought was 50% off. I spent more than I should have and not as much as I wanted too. I will take pic's and show the goodies next week on my other blog. Monday evening the took me to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings, late for my birthday. Nice place to eat and play.

Tues. today we left Winchester about 7am drove for about 2hrs and stopped for breakfast. Then went on a ways and stopped again. Spent about an hr. looking around and found a geocache. Then back on the road. Stopped again for lunch. Went in a WM and got enough for lunch and supper cheaper than fast food and better for you. Went on and finally stopped about 4:30 for the night. Ate the rest of our food, found a geocache , went to $ store and now in for the night.

Had rain all morning, of and on rain in afternoon. Just a little while ago the sun came out.

UPDATE---TRIP

WINCHESTER APPLE HARVEST: Back in the day when we did this show it would have been wall to wall people. I did did this show for about 18 years. It was a drizzle of rain day, and did pick up a little in the afternoon. My daughter did set up this year. Let you know how it was later.These tye dye have been around for ever, I thought that they would be done with here in the 2000's but they are still hanging in there. Double booth no less.Winchester is the home of White House apple sauce and other apple products. The had booths at each end of the show, with these antique vehicles. This one is horse drawn.And this one is an antique flat bed truck. I think these old things are great.
We left about 9 am Friday morning. Went what I call the back way, (not the PA turnpike) mostly on secondary roads. Took I-79 south until we hit the National Historic Highway in PA. US 40.
Nice drive with lots of history to see along the way, but slow driving. So it took almost 7 hrs what would have taken 5. Stopped a couple times and found one geocache along the way.
Sat. did not feel so great, this cold is a bummer, but went over to the crafts show and sat with my daughter. Not to exciting, rainy and cloudy day. Crowed was way down.
Sunday waiting for a while before I go sit with my daughter again. SIL is going to go watch the Steeler game later and I will go help her then. Think before I go, will go over to books a million and look around.

HEADING SOUTH & VINTAGE POST CARD

I had a great day at the yard sales today. Got 57 of these great post cards, all for only 8.00. The graphics are wonderful on them. I am really not sure how to use them yet with my altered art projects.

I will be leaving and heading south next Friday. I can’t wait….it has been a long summer and not a great one at that. We will be stopping in VA to visit my daughter and family and then after a few days heading on down to FL.

I was planning on staying at camp grounds instead of motels but I have so much to take with me the truck will be full of altered art stuff, can you believe that! I have gone back and unpacked thinking of what I could leave here and I don’t want to leave any of it!

I am again taking my time traveling and taking 3 days to get there. Hope to take a few back roads and not all interstates. I found out a week ago that I need a new furnace and now have to turn the gas off for the winter, and that means turning off the water also. Now that is a whole other post…they have been trying to find the water turn off at the street for 2 days now. Coming mon or tues with a back hoe. And there goes the end of my drive way. I am glad that the water co. has to replace it. I will post some pic’s next week. Not much geocaching going on either. Well all for now thanks for looking and come back soon

YARD SALE FINDS

This is some of the loot I got in the last couple weeks. A package of bird greeting cards, some vintage wooden checkers, vintage embroidered dresser scarf, and an old bottleClose up of the cards, I thought they were all the same, but when I opened them up later I found they were all different birds. Nice! I plan on using all this in my altered art.Found all this in one plastic zip lock bag for 50 cents. Just a note , I usually do not pay over $1 for any thing I get to use in the altered art.Vintage Avon bottle, sweet angel. Got all these for $ 1 some had corks in them. OFF LINE AND A CACHE

Found a cache in the parking lot at this location. There is one further down in the sanctuary that I found when I first started. This is a new one just out not long ago. This place is really run down no one taking care of it. I never see anyone here. I see several Blue Herons flying over my house thu out the summer. I live between to large lakes. Man made lakes. The cache. I have been off line for a couple weeks due to the fact that I used up my 5,000 Verizon G-bites. Took me awhile but think I figured it out. I have been uploading more pic's than I used to. I have been doing altered art swaps on my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ .

Any way now I have to play catch up. I had a yard sale today with the rest of the neighbors and did pretty good. I have found several cache in the last couple weeks that I will post about. ROAD TRIP & A CACHE

Went here ......To get this....foot long hot dog. Now I really don't eat very many hot dogs, this is the first this year but I do like Eddie's foot longs. Looks like you cant see the dog, because it has the "works" on it. Eddie's is in the small north west PA town of Conneaut Lake, where my first business was located. A country gift shop. That's how I know about Eddie's and Hank's. Then down the road we went here.........Hank's
To get this...... chocolate frozen custard....as far as I am concerned the king of ice cream! Was so hot yesterday that it was melting running down my hand as I walked to the truck. Didn't take long to eat, you had to lick fast .... lol This is the first one I have had in a couple years.Then we went here .........And found this.....a cache. The cache located along a not much used road above I-79. The tree is on a big hill with interstane at the bottom. Cache was not down there. Was 97 here yesterday, I could not stay home with out A/C so we hoped in the truck and went on a road trip. Went to Conneaut Lake Pa. had some lunch, and found one cache. Conneaut Lake is the largest natural lake in PA. There is the small town, the lake and an amusement park. You can read about it here http://www.conneautlake.com/ . Found the cache a few miles up the road, I looked for a couple more but DNF and did not look to long or hard because of the heat. Stopped by my son's to wish my grandson a happy birthday, he thinks he is old at the ripe age of 19 lol. I guess because it is his last year as a teenager. For some reason gas is cheaper in Meadville than it is in Greenville, like at least 20 cents sometimes more, and with the discount from a local grocery store you can get a good deal. So every time I got to son's house I get a fill up. While doing all this gas stuff, and going to son's we got in a huge traffic jam, they were paving road. We waited in traffic for 30 min. Then we headed back to Conneaut Lake to look for a virtual geocache. Found it and will post about it tomorrow. Have to email the owner with my answers then I can log it and post. Then we came home to a boiling hot house. Miserable all night, hard to sleep, sat on porch but that made Maggie nervous in the dark, but she would not stay in the house with out me, so I gave in. I have a fan in the bathroom facing out so that it will pull cool air in the bedroom window but there was no cool air to pull in. To be 94 today cant see that 4 degrees is going to make a big difference so , it will be same today. Enough of my moaning about the heat (might as well be in Florida) so I will sign off. YARD SALE FINDS

Here are a few cigar boxes that I found at yard sales this summer. I think there are a couple more lol. I really need to get making something with them. Cheapest was 10 cents up to 50 centsI think I am queen of 50 cent items. Got this vintage crochet dress pot holder. I got a few more in red, enough to finish up decorating the kitchen in Florida. Beautiful embroidered dressers scarfs. Got them for 50 cents also. The are in excellent condition.Pretty posy'sMore Just check the temp 81 at 9:00 am, an hr ago it was 71. Today it suppose to get up to 97 that is pretty hot for NW Pa. It is so hot even Maggie doesn't want to do anything. To hot to do any geocaching but I am going to go out of town to see grandson on his BD today , so i might do one or two. Will see how it goes. At least I got A/C in the truck. When the heat breaks I am going to get something done on this house! I will wipe down the wood work in one of the bedrooms that I did get empty, then paint the woodwork, I will get this done ! MY 300TH CACHE

This was the location of my # 300 found in 2 years. I started geocaching in July of 2010. This is an old iron bridge in Greenville that has been closed down for replacement. Who knows if that will ever happen. I have crossed this bridge many many times in my 66 years.The cache on the bridge, a magnet key holder. Looking over the bridge down into the river. Shallow now as we haven't had rain in a while, but I have seen this river flood the down town area. Another cache I found this morning. The hint was something about a bush. Yeah right...lol ...pick one. It took me awhile to find this one.The cache, for some reason I did not understand it was large, and was looking for something smaller. If I would have paid attention to the discrp, it would not have taken me so long. This cache is in a nice local park. This one in the same park, along one of the walking trails. The cache was not very far in along the trail, so I didn't get to see much of it or where it went or ended. Maggie was in the truck and I didn't want to leave her very long, even tho it was in the cool of the morning. Sometime before I got back to Fl I will take a walk along here. There are a few more caches in this park to find.This was the cache, easy find with a geopile of sticks.WEATHER in Greenville hot in 90's today.
I guess you could call this a mini 1/2 day trip of about 25 miles or so. I think when we live in one place all our lives, we don't think of the things we can see and do right in our own back yard. Like this park with its couple of walking trails. I think there is a small lake for fishing somewhere back in the wooded area. I can't take Maggie back in the woods, first off she hates the woods, and does not want to walk in them, she pulls against here leash when I try take her so I just stopped trying. And also I don't want flea's and ticks, even tho we use Frontline Plus.
I am going to be taking more mini day trips, even tho it makes me feel guilty not working on the house. But I am not going to do anything with it this year so I guess I got more time to do it. At least that's what I tell myself. Still no fridge , still living out of ice chest, not fun, would be ok if I were camping or something fun like that. FLEA MARKET SET UP

On Sunday I set up at a local flea market trying to get rid of more stuff. I unloaded one more tote full. It was a little slow too hot I think. And look who come along and set up beside me! And of course I had to give them some of my hard earned money!

More of what I had to sell.Flea market must be doing good they put up this large building last year. Cost more to set up in it.More peeps set up.

I will be glad when this is all over with, the older I get the less I like doing it and it's hard on the old body. Been hot here and I haven't done alot on the house. But I guess not hurry at this time. I want to take a few road trips this summer. One for sure at the end of July or first of Aug. Will be meeting up with my DD and SIl at a craft show she is doing. Will stay at a camp ground. I would also like to go maybe to Lake Erie since I only live an hr away. Have not been caching much lately either.

YARD SALE FINDS

Found some more goodies that I needed. Well not the Pyrex, I just like it. I guess you could say I now collect it. Before I use to buy it and resell in my store. I all ready have a dish like the green one but for 50 cents I could not pass it up. The bowl was only 75 cents and I need some bowls here in PAThen I found this stack of plastic storage drawers. This is the third set I have found at yard sales in excellent condition, For only $1.00! This one had some scribbling on the top. So I took a piece of self stick card stock and covered it up after I tried scrubbing it off. See that cute little sweetie pie in the back ground, hanging on the porch. Waiting for some innocent puppy to come on her turf!Then I got this cute candle stand for 10 cents. I really didn’t want the stand only the acrylic type crystals on it. I need those for my altered art, and couldn’t beat the price. Got two cigar boxes for 25 cents each.

I still keep on going to yard sale, not a lot of them and with gas prices I just mostly do the ones in town. I only buy for my altered art and a few things like the Pyrex. Still working on the house, and getting more stuff for the yard sale. I think I will pack the truck and set up at the flea market this Sunday. Well not much else, maybe I will get some geocaching done this week end, I have been so lazy! Sitting here watching the Atlantis launch, wish I was in Fl to watch it.

YARD SALE & A CACHE 0R 2 OR 3

A GEO-PILE.....This is a typical geo - pile, sticks too can be a geo - pile. This was easy to find and I don't think I am giving anything away. We went out on Sun. looking for a few caches, after a dismal week before, I went for some easier ones. Even tho last week was suppose to be easy. This was the first find of the day and I dropped a TB here. THE CACHE.....And this was what the cache looked like. Nice on for leaving stash. Amo box. CACHE IN THERE SOMEWHERE.....This cache was just put out this year, but I sure think I looked of one here last year. Maybe it got archived, and a new one was put out. The GPS was bouncing around a bit but I found it in about 5 min. ANOTHER CACHE.....This is the third one we found, a typical guard rail cache. Magnetic.

YARD SALE FIND.....I have been looking for one of these for awhile now. It is a potpourri melter the were very popular a few years ago. I want it to melt bee's wax.

BEE'S WAX FOR MAKING CANDLES......So a few yard sales later I found this,what luck, they are sheets of bee's wax that is used in making those wrap candles. Bee's wax is not cheap, but these were $ for about 1 lbs. I was a happy yard sale lady!Came right home and plugged in pot and put in some wax and bingo...it worked great so I added more and now have a pot full of bee's wax to use in my art work. Now I have to go and read up on how to do it. Still working on getting read to have a yard sale to get rid of more house hold items, and do a few flea markets. Son is going to put a new support post in basement next week. Hope to get painting all the trim up stairs soon. I am having problems getting this stuff done. I do not want to do it!

YARD SALE GOODIES

FRANCISCAN WARE PLATE...Got three small plates and one dinner plate. These were made in the USA. In mint condition. Should I sell them or keep them and use them??? Hmmmm what to do?DESERT ROSE PATTERN.....I have always loved this pattern and could never afford it. I cant believe how cheap these were at a yard sale. VINTAGE MILKSHAKE GLASSES.....These I believe are from the 1940's I have been looking for them on the Internet and that is what I found.THREE LARGE ONES.....I remember going to Isley's with my mother, and drinking chocolate milk shakes out of ones just like these. Isley's made the best shakes ever. It was a real treat to do this, and it didn't happen very often. That was back in the day when you went shopping on main street, everything was located there, including the soda shop. Mom would go in there to get chip/chopped ham. The three small ones were used for making suday's in. I want to keep these too!
I am starting to get in the groove for getting things done. Cleaned down stairs today, got a few more things ready to sell. Mowed the yard and got more yard work done. 3 loads of laundry washed and hung out. I feel like I am on a roll now.

UPDATE & SOME CACHING PIC'S

All those flags around the canon balls. Found a cache here on Sunday. There was a fine mist of rain and very cloudy, so my GPS was all over the map, made it hard to find any.This giant dead tree was in the same cemetery hiding a cache. Again the GPS had me all over the place.

This was the cache the giant was hiding. I like these kind you can leave a TB in them.I remember when you could drive your car thru this underpass. It went across the Shenango River and to the cemetery. There is a railroad track on the top. Still in use. We went thru it to the cache area........

.......and found this.....Maggie trying to figure out witch way to go. Bouncing GPS could not figure it out either. So we did not find this one. Only 2 out 0f 6 were found on Sun. Have been trying to get things done here in the house, having trouble, need something to push me into getting it done. Not much sunshine in the NW PA....I need SUNSHINE!! I did get done with the painting in the bathroom and Son got the small leak fixed. It was a thorn in his side.... couldn't get it to stop, it was really a tiny micro but would be under the floor and over time would become a bigger problem. Just have a few little things to do in there and done with that room. There is so much up in the air with me that I don't really know what to do about the house . I am not even sure I would want to live in Fl all alone. With family so far away. So maybe I will not sell the house. Not sure about renting, people do not take care of something that is not theirs. I had a close friend that rented out apartments and you would not believe how people treated the property.

I guess I will concentrate on getting rid of my stuff. Even this has become overwhelming. I have found getting older, you don't want to deal with alot of things. This being one of those for me.

Maggie is doing great. She is back to her old self, running around , playing with her toys, making me laugh, such a sweet dogie. No more hot spots either, no itching and keeping me awake half the night.

BOXES TO ROOT THRU
Went to the flea market on memorial day, it was a mess! With all the rain, mud everywhere. I should not have taken Maggie! She was mud up to her belly. Every thing in these boxes was 25 cents. I found $1 worth of things that i could not live with out. lol lOVE THE BLUE PLATES

Here is my roses this year. I cut them way back last Nov. before I left for Fl. This year they seem to have a million buds on them. You can see little Maggie on the porch.

Have not been doing much since I got back. Have mostly been sick with a cold and my back. legs, and feet have been hurting. I think that riding for hrs, even tho I tried to cut down on this, is cause me problems now, I am getting better so I will be getting more done. Son got tub and new vanity in, I have to finish painting etc.

MORE Weather finally got nice, when the heat wave left. But we are having thunder storm right now.

HOME IN PA & A CACHE

WHERE IS THE CACHE

THE CACHE
WEATHER IN GREENVILLE PA Temp 70 with rain on and off all day, mostly cloudy, not what this old lady is use to!

We spent the weekend in Va with my daughter and family, then came on up to Pa on Monday. Not hard driving at all. I have been sick since I got here. Think I got a cold from my SIL, the first one I have had in five years. I go out of my way to try and stay away from colds, and other such nasties. So do to that I have not got much done around here. My son has to come and finish up the bath room. He has been working a lot at his new job at Home Depot, so it is slow going.

I will start working on some things on Monday and work on some art projects. You can keep up with that on my other blog Red Apple Junction. The link is on the side bar here.

The cache is one we found in Fl before we left. It is in an area where there are lot of rocks and stones, large ones too as you can see by the pic. It was not to hard to find the GPS was right on. The second pic is of the cache itself. Looks like a stone but the bottom opens up and the log is in there. Pretty neat.

WEATHER: The weather has been great this whole trip. I won't go into detail, but shorts and T shirts.

The campground we stopped at on Friday night was in MT Airy NC, home of the Andy Griffth show. Hence the name. A nice campground by the looks of everything we were there only over night. We were at a spot next to the office, bathroom with shower right there at office. We were put there because we were only staying the night. We drove about the some as the day before, so we had plenty of time to explore down town after we checked in. Very interesting place lots of thing to see, if you are a lover of the show you will enjoy this a lot. You need a couple days to see everything. We also looked for a few caches, only finding two. The one pictured above is a fake hen's & chicken plant with a tube for the log to hide. I knew right away what it was. Easy park&grab. The other was also a P&G light pole.

I like traveling like this no rush to get someplace, stopping to take a look at things, doing a little caching, etc. I just wish I at least had a van, hard on old lady climbing around in that truck.

Sleeping: Well, the first night Maggie kept trying to get on the lounge cushion with me. There is no room for this lol. I made a little area for her using a crochet Afghan, but i guess that was not cushy enough for her. So on Sat night she gave up and stayed put.

Got to my daughters on Sat and will leave here on Monday.

TRIP UP DATE

MAGGIE AT OUR SITE.

Weather was great , traffic was great. Good travel day light traffic, and one thing I noticed was that most were traveling at a slower speed than they usually do. I know I did, even when the speed limit was 70 I only did 65, did that the whole way so far. I think everyone is trying to save on gas even the truckers. I stopped every time I got down to half tank and I seen cheap gas. It ranged from $3.65 to 4.00. I did not pay the $4 but I seen the prices.

We left at 6:30 and stopped about 4:oo. made several stops about 6 I would say. Spent an hour for breakfast, at then see there was a geocache only a mile away so of course we had to get that.

So we went 393 miles in about 9 hrs. And I am not tired, my back side does not hurt and my hip and leg does not hurt! I am thinking this is the way to travel! Slow and easy no rush! We found another cache at lunch time. Almost forgot that. To night will be interesting see how Maggie likes the sleeping arrangements. Sitting here at our camp site nice just right not to hot not to cool. We are right next to I-95 so there will be some traffic noise, but I don't think it will bother me. Lunch and supper was left overs from last nite 1/2 BBQ chicken, dad and I went out to our local "Diners,Drive-in's and Dives. ( they were not on that show but should be) Had enough for 2 more meals.

WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FL.... 84 Great day few clouds mostly sunny.

I heard a small noise, took truck to my new mechanic and he said hole in muffler, I don't do exhaust work! Sent me to Meineke....what a great bunch of guys especially Chirs the guy in pic, fixed muffler and when he found out I was going north , check my oil and tires, and my check engine light. (that is whole other post) I would recommend them highly. So I looked around and saw the clock repair place across the highway. Had to move very fast to get across!! Ask the man if he had any old watch or clock parts he didn't want, he did so I got all those in the pic. I hit the jackpot! I will use them in my art projects. Was having such a good time, I then treated myself to the last pic!!!!

We are heading out early tomorrow morning. Everything is packed so brush teeth, wash face and be gone.
I want to keep a travel blog going with this new puter with a good battery I am sure it will work out so keep checking!

WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FL. About 84 today was a great day. Mostly sunny.

I watched the launch on the TV then ran out to the back yard to see it. The first and third pictures are of what was on TV. The second is what I saw in the back yard. It was truly awesome. About 3-5 min after I took this pic the roar caught up with were we are located and it shook the house and rattled the windows. Maggie did not like this at all!! Clear blue sky and sun shine. I could see the shuttle and fuel tank as the sun was reflection off it and made it look like brilliant copper color. Beautiful. It is inspiring to be here in central Florida living this history. I was thinking about all the great history (now) that has happened in my life time. Mostly good stuff but some bad, like the wars etc. Someday I will post about it.

The last pic is what the employee's were doing this morning . That is the last of the thousands and thousands of people that got pink slips. No longer working on our now defunct space program.

This is a sad sad thing for our country.

I cleaned the cab of the truck vacuum and all. Getting ready for our trip. Leaving on Thur.

YARD SALE

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU MOM’S!

Took Maggie out and about Sat. We went to a few yard sales I got this iron votive holder to use as a stencil for my art projects. I twisted of the round votive holders so the would not be in the way while I spray.

I got this plastic box thing to use the same way. I took the box apart so it could be used in a better way. We also found a neat cache over at the beach. I was at one of the access parks to the ocean. I didn’t take a pic because it would have given the hid away if anyone here in Florida would happen to read my blog. But it was hid under a sea shell. We went up to the Patrick AFB area, while we were crossing the bridge there were a bunch of fighter jets comeing in to base, wow was that awesome!!! I seen a bunch of cars pulled off to the side, was wondering what was going on when BOOM I heard then. Took me a while to pull of get out and get phone camera on, and by that time they were done. So much noise as the were landing right there. Almost scary! So any way no pic’s.

EASY CACHES & LIVE WRITER AGAIN

Well last night I down loaded a new program called Live Writer. All of a sudden on my blog I would be half thru it and it would disappear never to be seen again. So I thought this live writer thing would help. This is the second post that I have used it, last night on other blog I used it, anyway I had my pic on here and was just starting to add the text and bingo the whole shoot’n match disappeared. GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I will try again. here are a few pic’s of some easy caches that we have found last couple weeks.This is your typical chain link fence hiding spot. When I first started geocaching this was hard for me to figure out. loll “CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW” This is soooooo easy. An old broken down phone sitting in plan site.

This one had me for awhile. It really is easy but for some reason I could not find it. When I did find it, I looked at the logs and someone said when they found it there was a homeless man sleeping beside it. Amazes me because this is in a busy parking lot with a big 4 story business building right there.

Same cache as above.

Well I got thru this ok, I am looking for a place to save it as I go along typing but can’t find it. I am getting ready to go north soon, I will be I will be leaving on May 19th. I will be doing a travel blog here so if family and friends want to keep track of me can do so. And we will be camping instead of motels, and maybe seeing some sites along the way.

SPRING TOMATO'S & GETTING READY

Eating garden fresh tomato's in March a first for me! I was going to plant a few tomato plants in Jan so I could have some before I left and to take some with me. But dad wanted to do it so, now we are eating fresh garden tomato's. Eating BLT'S, garlic and tomato's, basil tomato's from my herb garden. He planted them after our last frost in Jan. And they were ready end of March.

Scrubbed down the porch and furniture, this week. It should be ok for the summer. When I get back I want to paint the floor. I would have done it already but waiting dad to get a nozzle for the

power washer. From his friend.

Also getting the truck ready for our trip. The cushion from a lounge chair will work great for a bed. I am gluing the screen back on the windows of the cap. For as much as I had to pay for that cap, the screen was very cheaply done. My clothes and a few other things I am taking with me will fit in two totes that will go along the other side of the cushion. And at nite I can set them outside they will be covered. I tried out the cushion and it is very comfy. Not sure how Maggie will take to the sleeping arrangement. Only room for me on that bed! LOL
WEATHER : HOT in the high 80's and 90's here for the last two weeks. I think there was one cloudy day in the last two weeks. I guess they don't call Florida the sun shine state for no reason.

Wow. I will bring the sunshine north with me. Today working on cleaning up things and spray painting a few art projects to do. You can check that out on my other blog.

Anyone using live writer for blogging? How does it work for you? I would like to use it now that I got a new computer.

GEO-CACHING WITH THE HECKER-WINEY'S

Here is Mike up a tree after the cache! Poor man we had him every where on this last trip to get the rest of the geo-0p0ly series. We had only 4 more to get (we had looked for them already once) this one was in a pine tree. Pretty far up too. You can bet if I had to do this by myself, I would not have finished the series.There were 30 properties we had to get I think this was the last one. Mr HW digging around in the brush. He found it in there!

To compensate we let Mr HW do his off roading thing in the geo-mobile with out any complaints from us!

Poor Mrs HW broke a nail on this cache, and it was a hard cache to find. I think this might have been our third trip to this cache site. We got a hint and still could not find it . So Cindy and I stood around awhile talking about and calculating things and bingo we got it. She was so frustrated she broke a nail opening it.

We really had a good time caching this geo-oply series. We found the last four we needed and found ten others hid in the area.

Maggie and I found a few caches this past week using my new Droid X . Cindy showed me an app for caching with the phone and I'm loving it. Before I had to write everything down and now all I have to do is turn on my Droid! Took a trip to the beach and seen another dog on the beach so I took Maggie for a short walk. She does not like the ocean, but loves all the new and interesting new smells. Working on packing up a few things. This summer while I am gone my dads friend is going to install an air conditioner in the Florida room for me. So I am putting my art stuff in totes until I get back.

GEOCACHING WITH GEO-BUDDIES

Cindy had to climb a tree to get this one! Not me that's for sure! The past two Sat. we went to the " Compound " looking for the 30 Geo-opoly caches that are hid there. I think I told you about the "Compound on the last post. Well we have found 26 out of 30.

The 4 we have not found are ones we have looked for but have been DNF so far. But we will go back to find them so we can have the whole series. This has been a fun and challenging series.

There are others hid there also so we will look for those after this.

It is sooooo much more fun when you have friends to cache with! I will miss them when I head north in a few weeks. I hope they don't find all the caches around here while I'm gone!

It is getting hot here in Melbourne. In the 90 last few days, and wall to wall sun. Cant do much out side in this weather.

Maggie has another hot spot. She got one soon as the last one got better. I sure wish I could figure out what is causing them. I feel so bad for her, she doesn't know what to do. She knows she should not bite at them , so she runs around like a banshee, skiting around like a scarred rabbit. Its sad to see. She does a lot hiding under the bed. My poor baby :( Anyone have any ideas about these hot spots please leave a comment.

When I head north I have been thinking about staying in a camp ground and not a motel. I will have an almost empty truck and we can camp in it. It will be the middle of may and warm enough I think. I am only driving 8 or so hrs a day this time, taking my time. Its not good for my old body cramped up in the cab of the small Toyota. We'll see, but I think that's what will be going down .

BIG BIRDS & RANDOM GEOCACHES

BIRDS AND NEST ON MAIN HIGHWAY : A bird nest on a large power pole along US 1 not far from home. I go by this every day. At first I thought it was an eagles nest but seeing these birds not sure. Anyone know? Judy if you still read my blog I know you will know! Funny they used some caution tape for part of the nest.

HARD TO GET GEOCACHE: This was a random geocache we found over the weekend. Was hard to get at we had to use a tool>

MRS HW TELLING MR HW WHERE TO LOOK: We have Mr HW do our bush whacking, all this was not to bad as far as some of the things we get into! WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FL: Temp 80's and really bad storms. They just went thru, 74 mile an hr winds up at the Cape, about 64 here. I don't think I want to meet up with a hurricane!

My phone has been acting up (6 yr old dino) so went to Verizonwirless store yesterday. Was going to look into getting new I-phone. Well when it was all said and done I ended up with a Dorid X. It had a bigger screan and according to my Verizon guy Kris, it does more than the I phone. So far I really like it, now I know why everyone is always looking at their phones lol.

Maggie and I went out looking for a geocache with it, found it and logged about it from the phone pretty cool! Speaking of Maggie she has another hot spot :(

A DAY OF GEOCACHING- GEO-OPOLY

MR HECKER-WINEY'S FINDING A CACHE: This was along the way but not part of the Geo-opoly series.

THE H-W GEO-MOBILE: Very cool geo-mobile! It is a Travel Bug also. You can see it just about the tail lite, that is above the plate.

MY FIRST TO FIND! Yeah!!! Me holding my FTF (First To Find) empty log waiting for us to sign. Mrs H-W got a phone message while we were lunching at Burger King. Said a new cache just went on line, and we were close, so the rest is history. We got it! There is Mr. H-W behind the bush....sorry Mike!

Hope my peeps up north are having some spring type weather too.

I had a great day of Geocaching with my caching buddies the Hecker-Winey's (geo name) aka Cindy & Mike. Started out that Cindy and I were going to go , but then Mike got a day off work and so he came along too. It was a good thing as where we had picked to go , was not a place to go alone or maybe two geo-girls not to go alone. At least these two Chic-en's lol. It is a desolate wasteland that at one time was to be a housing development. A few years back, this entire area was cleared, leveled, and roads were paved. But, due to corruption and economic woes, the area tanked and is now a desolate wasteland. So it is now the Geo-opoly Series.....a series styled in the fashion of a VERY popular board game that has been around since 1935!! The caches are the game board streets and railroads, place all over this area. What a fun time we had , we only found 7 of the caches this first day out. But we will be back, only ,with Mike in tow.:)

It is so much more fun when you have geo-buddies to cache with!!

Today Sat. went to a few yard sales dad bought this oven thingy he thinks he needs! Not! he got some kind a oven RonCo thingy last time we went, has yet to be used, is in the closet. I got some old pic's around 1902 some a little earlier, for my altered art projects.

SUN RISE, CACHING AND A FROG

SUNRISE AT THE PARK : Got this great pic the other morning in the park. We got there before sunrise and I also remembered to take my camera. Not sure what the bird is (maybe Judy knows) but even with Mr. cheapo I think I got a pretty good shot. Seen 6 squirrels hanging on a palm tree trunk teasing Maggie, I tried but could not get a shot of them. It was so funny seeing them up side down look and chattering at her. Maggie is trying to make a few doggie friends but she is still nervous about it. CACHING BUDDIES: My new caching buddies looking over a cache we had just found. We went out on sat morning and spent the day caching and had a lunch picnic. I wont tell you were we went as I don't want to give anything away. I really don't think you could figure out anything with these pic's anyway. I had a great time, poor Maggie had to stay home. Just too hot for her. I found 8 or 9 and they found a few more than I did because I had already found them.

CHECKING A CACHE

NOW HOW CUTE IS THAT! This cache was just so sweet, game me a few ideas on hiding a cache. I would love to hide a few, but will have to wait until fall when I come back to Fl. WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FLORIDA: Temps in the 80's and lows in 50's. Mostly sunny today another wonderful day.

Seen the super moon the other night, Mr cheapo couldn't get the job done so no good pic. I think I must have seen the super moon back in the 90's (but didn't know what it was ) cause I remember one night coming home and looking up the street and thru the houses and seen this HUGE orange ball of a moon. I was fascinated by it, looked as if I could reach right out and touche it, that's how big it was. It was a sight that I will never forget. This one did not look that big, at least not where I was looking.

Spring is here hope you folks up north are having better weather. My neighbor is on face book and she sent me a message how awful the winter has been. Neighbor would be Lexi and Milo's mama (Maggie's friends).

PARK INCOUNTERS & CACHE OF THE DAY

WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FL. Temp 80 today, sun with some clouds, beautiful day!

Yesterday we were up early for our walk to the park and was there for the sun rise. This time change has disrupted our morning routine LOL, when the sun starts coming up earlier it will go back to normal. Any way Seen the beautiful sun rise, and birds galore. They seem to be more wild life there earlier in the morning. Along with early fishermen. Got a great shot of a bird on a piling. Not sure what kind,usually see all kinds of interesting things when I walk there, but keep forgetting my camera. Like the other day the water was still no wind and there was a dolphin going along close to the shore, I could have got a great shot because he was going very slow and I would have had time to snap a few while he was out of the water.

The cache of the day was located along US-1 on a power pole. You know some times they have a piece of conduit run up the side of the pole. Well this cache was attached to a fishing line to the cache so you can pull it out. That's the easy part. Getting it back in is the problem. I have a hook that is about 2ft. long and I got it back in with that. My trusty tool. Sometimes it's a thinking game trying to figure out how to do something and what you have to do it with. Fun!

HERBS, BIRDS, & A CACHE

HERB GARDEN: I planted a few more herbs now that spring is here in Florida! The bird houses are going to be hung on the old orange tree stump later. I have some black wrought iron hooks back in PA and will be bringing them back in the fall. I have been looking all over for some chives, and can not find them anywhere. They have onion chives here but not chives. I want the regular chives. So I planted some seeds yesterday, That is what you see in the bottom corner of the pic. Incubating some seeds lol! Hope they take.

BIRD BATH: Yesterday I was working in the yard, and cleaned out this old bird bath It is old, cement, and heavy. It use to be planted with some flowers, dad took them out last year, and that's as far as it got. So I cleaned it up some what,(has some nice patina to it) and filled it with water to see what would happen. Well you know from the last post that the robin migration has invaded our area and as soon as I walked away it was swamped with robins. It was amazing! All day long they were all over that bird bath, now remember there are hundreds of robins here right now. It holds about 5 gal of water and I filled it 3 times today. Unbelievable !! It was fun to watch them seems there is a pecking order and you can not go out of order to drink you had to wait your turn, mostly on the fence . I enjoyed watching them. Those white lawn chairs were covered with bird poo and I scrubbed them twice before I decided to move them. Duh!
CLOSE UP OF ROBINS: This is a close up the best I could do with my cheapo camera. You can see the blurs those are birds arriving trying to find a spot. lol! There is a cute "The End" bird pic for you Judy right in front! Saw lot of that today, was funny looking when 5 or 6 were mooning me! I tried but could not get a pic of them.

ANOTHER BUNCH!

BLACK BIRDS: Along with the robins are flocks of small black birds, I don't know what they are.

But they seem to be afraid of the robins. Today every once in awhile one would sneak in and try and get a drink with the robins and they would chase him off. Finally about 4 PM the robins started moving on and the black birds flew up to get a drink , even then the few robins still hanging around chased them off. I was able to get this one pic of the black birds. There are not near as many black birds as there are robing.

STUMPED CACHE. : I almost did not find this cache ( DNF ) I walked all over this area in yet another small park, the hint was Don't be stumped. Well I did not walk all around this group of palm trees while we were looking (me n maggie) and I could not find it. So I put maggie in the truck and thought I would do one more look around. I went around the trees and there was the stump, easy after that ! Another nice little park I would never have seen if not for geocaching, it was right along the Indian River.

All in all it was a great day. Nice weather just right , sunny and breezy. Did laundry, went to gym, took 30 min morning walk with maggie, watched birds, cleaned kitchen and scrubbed floor, watched more birds. Maggie was outside a lot today so she was happy.

That fire is still burning, still only 25% contained and they had I-95 closed on and off all day.

THE CACHE WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FL. IT'S BEEN BEAUTIFUL HERE! 70's & 80's

But we had rain today in the 70's. Good we had rain there was a brush fire all day yesterday and last nite, burned over 10,000 acres, the rain help the firemen. Closed down I-95 for some time.

I have not blogged for awhile , brother was here for a week. Was busy with him. He went the Daytona 500. While he did that I did some geocaching with new friends met more cachers also.

We went fishing in the ocean, out to eat, shopping, sight seeing, out to eat, etc etc. Had a great time, I miss my family up north and was glad to see him.

Today I worked on planting a couple things in a small garden. Went out yesterday and got what I thought was to zucchini plants, after I got them planted I picked up the little tags that come with them and one was a cuke plant. Oh well I will make a trellis to let it climb on. I also got a few more herbs to put in my herb garden I will take some pic's and show ya.

The last few days the robins have been stopping over on their way back up north. They stop here and eat the little blue berries that are on the palm trees in Feb. Well they usually come the first of Feb. not this late, and now the berries are gone. I worry that they will not make it back north. Judy if you are reading this , do you know if they will make it ok? They are flying from tree to tree and nothing to eat, there are hundreds and hundreds of them.

I did not go to the gym the whole time company was here, just started back Monday, almost like starting all over , but today was much better.

The cache of the day is one we found a couple weeks ago. It was hiding behind that tree. Pretty easy one. We went out on Sunday caching and I think I got some poison ivy on my lower legs. I did not ware long pants, I forgot, you can bet I will not be forgetting again! I have a lot of cache's back logged, I guess I need to get blogging more.

I have the news on right now and they said that the fire was only 25 % contained, it jumped I-95 and was stopped somewhat by the ocean, but it is windy and the winds are expected to change tonite coming from the east and they are afraid it will come back inland.What a mess ,this is about 1 hr north of us, up where we watched the shuttle launch. Aaahhhh the shuttle, I had a great time watching it.

Tons of people all over, we looked up some parks, found one not far away, and took off at 10 am.

Well it was not soon enough, we just lucked out and found a parking spot at the edge of the park. We took food, and books to read, some people took their ezy up tents, had BBQ's going, almost like tail gating. The launch its self was awesome, too bad it is coming to an end. For the people that work there and for our country. Being at the edge of the park and right next to the road, some kind person let us out on the main road, and Mrs Garmin -Geea the GPS led us down a couple back streets to I-95 and we were out of there and on 95 in about 10 min. I could not believe it considering how many people there were.

Speaking of the shuttle, (to family & friends that think I'm nuts) did you know there is a geocache on the Space Station? There are several astronauts that are geocacher's. Now how cool is that? It was taken up there a couple years ago. The flight surgeon (cant think of his name) on this last Discovery flight is a cacher, and there was an article in the paper about it. There are tons of articles about the space flights. The cache that is up there now is hoping by the cache owner that it comes back to earth and to his front door someday. He is not there now, and most likely will not go back.

HERB GARDEN & CACHING WITH NEW CACHE BUDDIES

HERB GARDEN....I forgot to take a before pic so I got one after I put down the landscape cloth and had just started to put the mulch down. Basil is on the left and on right thyme and rosemary.
I am looking for a few other things to put in now that the frost is over. I really want some chives and cant find any. They have onion chives here but no regular chives.

MULCH DONE..........Needing more herbs here. I want to hang some hooks on that old orange tree stump...and put more bird houses on them . Just to decorate not for use.

FOUND A CACHE...............Went caching with some new caching buddies I met a few weeks ago. We went to a large local park and cached all day and had a picnic . Maggie went along this time...and was a good girl....they are going to bring their little dog next time.

FOUND ANOTHER CACHE.......Here is her DH holding up a very unique girly cache! I guess the girl that hid it is 16 ...she had it all decked out with jewels.....was very cool.. lol

AND ANOTHER..........this was another unique cache we found that day.

I am back at this blog site....it just was not working out only doing the one blog. So this will be the what we are doing blog and caching....the other will be art/vintage blog. The last few days dad and I have been doing some yard work / landscaping. Pulling up weeds, putting down landscape cloth and the pine bark nuggets. We put down 48 bags! Now that part is done I would like to do some planting. I will post pic soon of our work.

Hi all, I have some news. Been thinking on this for awhile now and decided to stop blogging here at this time. When I made this blog I was planning on selling out all my stuff and home , get an RV and do some traveling. Well since then things have changed (we never know) and I am now going to be living in Florida. I am moving here to help out my 86 yr old dad. He does not want to move back up north and he can't be alone any more. So I am going to move over to my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ and just post everything there. I will still be posting any short trips ( camping I hope) that Maggie and I take, and geocaching along with everything else I post about there. THE CACHE WEATHER IN MELBOURNE FLORIDA : Nice 65 windy sunny great day!

Maggie and I went out and about today. Went to first estate sale, dud, picked over by the time I got there. We then went across the river past Merritt Island to Satellite Beach. That was about 30 mile north of Melbourne Beach where the next estate sale was. We were checking all the things to see and do on the way down the highway. See some Plant City strawberries on the side of the road for sale. Stopped to see about getting a qt. Well they did not sell them by the qt. The the smallest was a 3 pt. for NOW GET THIS!! $13.00. We did not get them! What you got, looked to me about 1 1/2 qt. At the same spot was a thrift shop so I ran in there for a few min. Nice little store, I got a whole big bag of sewing patterns for $1.00. The mostly were from the 70's. Good for my esty store and my art projects. About 1/2 way stopped for lunch had a coupon from Micky'D's got Angus Berger with free med fry and free med drink. We pulled of to one of the public access areas to the ocean and ate. Then took Maggie for her P&P walk , then we headed for the beach. Great day for walking on the beach, but I was only there about 1/2hr as dogs are not allowed on the beach. I found a lot of shells, but could only take a handful because I forgot to take a bag. I also found a fishing lure. Click on the pic's to make them bigger. Then we went to the other two estate sales, and headed home. Nice day.

The cache of the day is one I found this last weekend. So far in Florida the guard rail is far and few between. This is the first one that I have seen and I had to be lead to it via a geocache. From the hints on the web site, I though it should be pretty easy for me to find, as we have tons of them in the north. But didn't find the typical magnet hide. So thought must be one of the bolts.

Just as I was checking them out ....a lady muggler came out of her house and said here it is. As you can see in the pic, it was 1/2 bold , you unscrewed it and it was hallow and the cache was in there. Bummer, I wanted to find it, oh well I will take the smiley anyway.

THE CACHE WEATHER : In Melbourne FL today cloudy high 74 low this am was 58. Sun to shine later in the day.

What have we been doing? Well Christmas weekend Maggie and I went caching and found five but forgot to take the camara. No pic's. Pretty laid back Christmas just grandpa and me. New years day, some friends of grandpa's came over for dinner.

I did find someone to cut my hair, I was worried about that. Its a chain The Cuttlery, nice young girl, did a good job. Yesterday went to WM got some food, went to Goodwill, found a few things for my art. I can't believe I am living in Florida and living such a boring life. Maggie and I did take our walk to the park seen a dolphin but could not get a pic, everytime I clicked it would be already under the water. Not fast enough.

We went geochaching this last weekend, and found a few. I took the camara this time so I will have someting to post. Also I met a very nice couple geocaching. I was about to leave one I had found when this yellow jeep pulled in. They sat there for awhile and so did I, I figured it had to me cachers, who else would be at this spot. So I got out and walked up to them and ask. The said they were so am I, said to them, they got out and we talked geocache for about 1/2 hr. very nice people, we hope to get together and cache sometime.

The cache of the day is one about 3 mile from home. A hint was read the sign, so I did and seen nothing. A few boys were riding bikes on the way to the water, and one stopped and ask if I was looking for the geocache? Yes I said, so he gave me a hint and I got it. I ask him if he was a cacher he said not yet, but I want to.

THE CACHEMERRY CHRISTMAS EVERY ONE !!!

Have a couple things to share today. First is a pic of frozen tomato plants. These did not have a light bulb in among the plants just had covers. They don't look so good. It is going to freeze tonite and Monday also, so even covered I doubt these will make it. I might try making some green fried tomatoes. Never had them. Grandpa will cover them all again tonite. You can click on pic to see how bad they are.

The second pic is a couple "friends" keeping watch over me while I blog! lol I need more friends!!

The big orange is a geocache me and Maggie found last week, it is one of only two I have found here in Florida since I came back in Nov. When I looked for this on last winter when I was here I could not find it, well looking back on the logs I see that it was missing then. When I pulled into the parking lot a boy muggler came out of his house across the way and watched me the whole time I was there, so after about 1/2 hr I just took the cache with me to look for the next one, went back about on hr later he was gone so I replaced the cache. It was obvious he was not going to leave until i did. The log was very wet, but it dried out so I could sign it and put it back.

Having ham for dinner grandpa cooked it yesterday, it seems like that if he has something to do or something is going on, he has to do it or get ready several days ahead of time. Hmmmmm.....

oh well, .........................

WEEKEND FUN & CACHE OF THE DAY

WE WENT ACROSS THIS.....if there were not some Mc-Mansions behind our house I could see this bridge out my kitchen window.

TO GET HERE THE OCEAN ....It is about 4 mi. from where I live to the ocean, and this is the first time I have made it there since I got here. Those waves do not look big in the pic, but they are BIG! And make a lot of noise, and pounding the sand. I forgot how beautiful the ocean is, I love it there and plan on going often. It wasn't real hot on Sat. and I took Maggie out and about with me. She stayed in the truck a few min while I checked it out, I saw a bunch of paw prints in the sand so I went back and got her. LOL she was so funny (her first trip to the ocean) she loved the sand and all ran around sniffing, but she did not like those waves and the water chasing her when it came ashore. I tried to get a pic of her side stepping trying to get away from it, ever see a dog run backwards. LOL, well she did! We didn't stay long didn't want the dog on the beach police to get us. No dogs aloud on the beach in Bevard Co. and its hard to go with the dogs because Bevard Co is about 70 miles long, and we are about in the middle.

THEN WE WENT HERE....a nice little park on beach side ( as apposed to the main land) it was full of dogs being walked. We ate our lunch here and looked for a couple geocaches but did not find any. I am not having much luck finding caches here. Cant figure out why. After this park visit we headed back across the bridge, but on the way back I spotted a neat nursery and gift shop. WoW expensive, but I will go back in Jan. I will take some pic's then.

THE CACHE This is a cache I found last summer in PA. It was located at a car wash took awhile because there were mugglers tending to cars. But finally got it on the side of the building.

While we were over on beach side we went to a bunch of yard sales. I got a few books and some other paper stuff, and that was about it. Really that's all I am looking for at this time. Its for my altered art projects.When we got back stopped at a few more yard sales and then headed home all in all we were gone about 6 hrs.

Sunday took my daily trip to wall mart LOL, it is close , too close , and worked on my altered art cooked roast in crock pot, took Maggie for a couple walks, and that was about it. THE CACHE WEATHER IN FLORIDA : 32 LOW LAST NITE..HIGH TODAY 60 COOL BUT NICE

Well with the temp going down to 32 and freeze mode, it was time for dad to get out the covers for the tomatoes. Looks like a tent city around here, an upscale tent city with electric. He put a light bulb in each one to keep his babies warm lol. Last year in Jan he had them on for 2 weeks because it was the coldest winter in FL in 50 years. Hope its better this year. The tomatoes are really good better than last year.

Its Christmas time when I am making peanut butter blossom cookies. Getting ready to send to kids and Gkids.

Not doing much right now with the cold weather, Maggie doesn't want to go for walks in the cold, she really didn't like the cold in PA. either.

Went to Goodwill today, and found a really neat little folding table about 3' X 2' just the right size for where I want it. Also got Maggie a new water and food bowl. Speaking of Maggie she has another hot spot. I am now trying to get her off the wagon train chicken. Maybe that is the cause, one of the things that "could" cause is food. She is a pistol to say the least. Can I say SPOILED !

The cache of the day is one I found last summer in PA. On the edge of a cemetery. Was not to hard to find with the GPS, when you take a look at where it is, in the brush, you would wonder how one could ever find it. In most cases like this you could not with out the GPS. I have not been caching much while I have been here, don't really know why. Maybe because when I did go I did not have good luck finding any, only found one so far.

Today was cool but nice, really did not do much, worked around house, made lasagna, got some cookie dough ready to bake, worked in the Florida room. I will post about that on my other blog tomorrow. http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ Went to big lots, and wall mart forgot to get flour for cookies yesterday. I wanted to go to the beach this week but looks like it will be to cold for that.

The pic of tomatoes are the first ones we got the other day, we are now getting 2 or 3 a day. So trying to come up with some ways to eat them. Soon he will be giving them away to his friends.

He planted some peppers too, they are coming along slow, I think they need more sun.

I hung up some Christmas curtains that I brought from PA. This is the first chance I have had to use them. Nice for a red and white kitchen. Also hung up the red and white vintage hand crochet pot holders I had. There were 7 of them, and I think I need about 6 more to go between the ivy curves. The ivy was already there, stenciled on. Hung up the cherries plaque above the clock.

Maggie still is not eating good, and I have to stand in the kitchen while she does eat. My DD thinks she might be home sick. When we got in the truck and left her house, I guess she figured she was going home as she usually does. But we spent 2 days on the road, and came to FL. She started digging at her hip again I hope the hot spot is not coming back!

CACHE.... IT WAS THERE WEATHER : SHOWERS AND CLOUDY TEMP 80.

Had Thanksgiving dinner good if I do say so myself, even tho myself cooked it. Was just dad, Maggie & me.

Thought I might post some of my stay in Winchester on the way down. Over the weekend I was there grandson Dustin and his girl Jackie came from Pittsburgh where they go to college. No foot ball game to watch, but we went to for lunch on Sat. We were playing games while there. Had fun.

Today (Mon) I worked on more scrubbing the ceiling in the Florida room I can only work over my head for a short period of time, but hope to get it done this week. It got mildew on it and dad could not clean up so it went for several years, and now hard to get off. I am using vinegar and water. I first used some stuff dad got strong bleach stuff, you needed a hazmatt suite to use it. Was nasty stuff, and I did not want to breath it and get it all over me. Went on line and found the vinegar idea.

I went out on black Friday to Best Buy looking for a new lap top, found one but when it came down to it, just cant spend the $$ at this time. I keep limping this thing along. To many people out didn't go any where else that day. Sunday Maggie and I went geocaching, found only one! Will post about it later. I am setting up the Florida room as my craft room. I will post about that on my other blog.

The cache of the day is one I found last spring at Pymatuning Lake not far from my home in PA.

Look at the size of the cache and look at the area I was looking in, this is when the old GPS comes in handy, you would never find it without GPS. It is fun playing a grown up treasure hunting game with a multi-million dollar satellite system, kinda funny when you think about it.

THE CACHE WEATHER: TEMP 80 AND WALL SUNSHINE!

Hi all....sorry been so long...anyway I am now in Florida! I will be posting on my trip but not in any order, just what ever, when ever.... Grandpa went to his first pro football game last weekend at Jacksonville they were playing his team the Cleveland Browns, guess he had a blast. They tail gated and everything. I have been working around here, making the Florida room in to my craft studio. Had to do some major cleaning still not done. Now I have to make room for all my stuff, not easy when you have no storage yet. I did find a couple things at a yard sale last weekend, a chest of those plastic stack drawers on wheels you see at WM, some guy was selling them, like new, and only wanted $1 for them grabbed them fast. Been doing the yard sale thing trying to find shelving etc for my craft studio I do have it set up enough to start making a few things, will post on that soon on my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ check it out. Had to take Maggie to the vet, she had a hot spot that came about in VA, while we were there. Vet gave us some spray and that helped it heal up. Expensive little girl.

The cache of the day is one we found on the way in NC, I didn't have one for that state, so we stopped on the way, at MT Airy, where the Andy Griffin Museum is to find one in front of the building. Moved a couple stones out of the way and there it was. Did not spend the time to go in the museum this time, maybe another time.

Today went to pick up a few things for Thanksgiving dinner, I am cooking the whole thing, for the 2 of us. Told dad I wanted to eat left overs for a week, I love Thanksgiving dinner. Making something new, for desert, mix can of pumpkin with brownie mix, hope it turns out.

SAFE TRIP - TRICK OR TREATERS & CACHE OF THE DAY

Gdaughter on far right kids are only 13 but sure do look older! But when I looked 21 when I was 12 at 5' 9" tall. Tricker treaters on my corner......it was like this all over the east end. and we have very few kids in the neighborhood. I ran out of candy.

PATH CACHE Maggie on the path looking for the cache. This was one we found this summer on a newly paved rails to trails bike, walking trail. Really nice. The head of the trail starts in Sharpsville PA and goes for a few miles. I like these cache locations, even if I got dirty looks from one biker. Like this was just a bike trail and I was not welcome walking. We had fun anyway. Maybe next summer we will go look for the rest of the caches on this trail

THE CACHE.................located on an old guard rail where a road use to go across the rail road tracks. Really over grown and hard to see in summer. Must ware orange in the fall!

Had a safe uneventful trip south to VA. Went the same rt and saw the same view but with out most of the colorful leaves. Stopped same place for our brown bag lunch, being Monday not so much traffic. Today Tues, kids are going to vote, then we will go to Costco and a few other places.

I will be helping my dd base coating slate , she is getting ready for a big show mid Nov.

THE CACHE WEATHER TODAY: WARMISH WITH RAIN FALL DAY

Post for today is same ol ' same ol' ....packing getting ready to leave, five days and counting , leaving on the 1st of Nov. Truck 3/4 full. What a job, trying to get everything I can in that small truck. I am even putting my clothes in WM bags and squashing them in every nook and cranny!

I will fluff them up in the dryer after I get to FL. I am also giving the house a clean up, nothing worse that coming back to a messy house. And it was a mess stuff everywhere, but after packing up, it wasn't so bad. I am sure I will have an inch of dust when I get back in May. Forced air heat is dusty!

Judy ask me about the live writer program, I did try Judy, to down load it, but it got half way done and a pop up said that it had a corrupt file and would not finish, so I didn't take it any further. I would like to be able to do more with the blog, but this lap top is kinda old , so thinking I might wait till I get a new one.

The cache of the day is one I found this summer in a Cemetery not far from town. I was pretty easy to find, and no excitement while looking, I guess that's a good thing lol.

Roasted some acorn squash also, a dab of butter and brown sugar, MMMMMMMMM good! I freeze it in meal size bags. 1/2 squash per meal.

This farm market is on in Winchester Va, on 522 south. I love stopping here in the fall, lots of fall deco and apples. I stopped here early in the morning on the way home. Didn't buy anything just walked around took some pic's. I love fall!!

Catch up, Been busy packing truck and trying to figure out what I can take this trip and what will have to wait. 8 days and counting! Most of what I have loaded now, 10 totes, is my craft stuff for my new hobby Altered Art. I plan on making some $$ this winter on the things I make, so need to get this stuff there. Speaking of AA, I was trying to decide what to do about a blog about it, think I will include this in my other blog http://redapplejunction.blogspot.com/ it already has some of my art/craft projects on it, I think it will work out pretty good, if it doesn't I will start a new one. I have cant wait to get started on this, hobby I have ssoooooo many ideas ! I hope I can find some like minded peeps in Fl to share with.

Son came in last week and we got part of the truck packed, left to do yet, clean house up, gather up clothes, finish outside put away, and last min things. Does not look like much but believe me it is!.

Last post I told you about the full time RV couple, well looks like their daughter is going to make a book out of her blog, I think that is the greatest thing, Grandkids will love it, and future family members will be able to take a peek at what it was like in the life of their ancestors. I would love to be able to take a look at what my GGGGrandparents looked like and how they lived , even the day to day life I find so very interesting.

No cache today. But plan on doing some caching on my way to Florida. I had fun doing that on the way back from my DD's a couple weeks ago.

TRAGEDY IN RV BLOGGING FAMILY

Yesterday morning a tragedy hit the RV blogging world Bruce and Margie were killed by a 19 yr old trying to kill himself with a car. I didn't know these two but followed Margie's blog, when I first went looking for Fulltime RV blogs hers was one of the first to show up, and I have been reading it ever since. This is a 5 part catch up road trip post!!!

Forgot to take pic's to turnpike and getting on, the first one is when we stopped for lunch was so crowded we had to park illegal. I packed lunch so we didn't take to long. Ate in the truck. I takes about 5 hrs or so to get to my daughters house. We made a couple stops so took use about 1/2 hr more. As you can see the foliage is still mostly green on the way down, but if you check the last post of this road trip you will see a big difference only 4 days can make. And of course there was the on going construction on the turnpike, I have been going to VA for 25 years and never had a clear road the whole way. We are about 3/4 of the way when we get to the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel, so I am always glad to see it. Another 30 min and we are in Breezewood a major hub along the turnpike. It is always crowded, as you can see, by the pic. I felt tiny between these two! Then to I-70 to 522 S. on to Winchester VA. Let the fun begin. Been awhile for fun times around here, all the work going on this summer!

WEATHER: SAT WAS IN THE 80'S AND HOT HOT!

On Sat. we went to Thurmont MD ,takes about 2 1/2 hrs from my DD house. This is a HUGE festival to say the least. The first pic, when we first got there. By the time we got to the park the next pic, that was the crowed of peeps walking to get in the park, it was like that all over the park there were 350 craft booths in there and it was like that all day. It was so bad that I could not get any pic of booths anywhere in town. The park is the main show, and there are vendors along main st, and all side streets and some parking lots, and many cubbie holes. Then there are a couple other areas, like the American Legion (this is were we always set up) and they have about another 350 booths. and across from that is the carnival grounds and another 250 booths, with booths along the streets and in more cubbie holes. In all I would estimate about 1, 500 vendors, that would include food booths. That might be a low est. Then all over and around town, tons of yard sales set up for the weekend. You could not see everything in one day. We did get to a couple yard sales, we were walking along waiting for SIL to get the car. He picked us up on the way out of town! I think we were there about 6 hrs or so and sat down once to eat lunch, at the fire dept booth, hot roast beef sandwich, ff, and cole slaw. Mmmmmmmmmmm good. We headed home to get the fur babies , that were not happy campers, being left so long.

The cache of the day is another one I found on the way home. The hint was ( get some air) so it was not hard to find. Now when I first started geocaching I would never have found this one. Only thru research and reading logs, and blogs did I found out about this type of cache. It is a fake electric cover, as you can see take it off it has 4 round magnets to hold it on with the cache log in a taped baggie. I think that's one of the fun things about caching all the different containers used.

WEATHER ON SUNDAY 80'S AND SUNNY!

All weekend we had great weather, just like summer hot! But I was loving it cause it was cold and rainy most of the week before I left. On Sunday we went to a local farm market, to pick apples and when we got there we found out they were having a Fall Fest. Lot of things going on for kids of all ages. It was so crowded in the store part we could not move. So we just got our bag and went out and picked our apples. Red Delicious what my DD wanted there were soooo many apples on the ground under the trees, I dont know if they were fallen or knocked down by the pickers. Any way it was fun, did not take long to pick them. Did not do much else on Sun.

The cache of the day I found on the way home just outside of Winchester VA. It was in a mini park along side the road way. The hint was (look for the natural guard) well soon as I pulled in the trees were looking like a natural guard to me. And I was right , did not take long, I had the cache in hand and signed. I left a travel bug that I found in a cache near Reynolds PA.

WEATHER: TEMP HIGH 70'S AND HOT!

On Monday we got up early and went to Lancaster area in PA to a couple of wholesale ware house. My daughter need to get some things for her business. I use to go to these when I had my store and when I still did craft shows, to get stuff to paint on. I enjoyed walking around and looking at everything, new things and still seen some older things that were still selling.

After that we went out to lunch at the place you see pic above. It was call the Delli I think and had great salads and sandwich's. We went on home after that as my DD was not feeling well she had a bad cold all weekend.

When we got home SIL had to go to Lowe's so I went along, heh heh, had ulterior motive, there was a new cache placed out behind Lowe's since I was last there. I wangled my SIL into finding it with me, but he is still not interested, same as all my family :(. Oh well I have fun and Maggie loves to ride in the truck so she has fun with me. lol.

The cache was very unique, someone cut the top of a pop bottle off, just the part you screw the cap on, then glued a cap on the bottom, put a log in it, then screwed another cap on so you could get the log out. Kinda neet. It was a typical parking lot find on the way home.

On the way home the Pa turnpike, the leaves had changed alot more in the 4 days since I last traveled this road. In a lot of places along the way you could look out at the mountains and it looked like a bowl of trix cereal. Color was great. Took me a while to get home as I stopped and got a few caches, and went to a couple thrift shops along the way. That was before and after I was on the turnpike.

The cache of the day was entering W VA from VA. It was a mirco hidden on the sign , not to hard to find even if was so small. Was a pretty uneventful trip home and we were tired out. Had a great weekend!

What have I been doing? Well not much, this has a week of and rain and cold all during the week. Today is the first sun we have had. I guess I'm a sun shine kinda girl.....

Had to go to the laundromat this AM to dry a load of clothes. My 42 yr old dryer bit the dust this spring and I'm not buying a new one. Been a long time since I went to a laundromat, this is a new one just opened a few weeks ago, and my how things have changed. The cost, wow, 5o cents for 6 min. I remember when it was 25 cents for 20 min, needless to say not going to be going there very often!

After that took Maggie home and went to Wal-Mart. Thought I might show you what the marts in our area do in the parking lot. They make a horse barn for the Amish, we have a pretty large Amish community in north west PA. Several different types of buggies parked here today. Just something interesting I seen today.

Now for the fun ......... we are taking a road trip this weekend. Going to VA to my daughter's. We plan on going to Thurmont MD on sat to a large town wide fall festival, Color Fest. We will take the fur babies, my daughter has a doggie stroller, and they both will fit. I sure wish I could find one at a yard sale, they cost new $50 big ones. Sun. we ( I think) will go to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Steeler & Browns play. Can't wait for that game either, love football, esp, the STEELERS. Everyone in my family is a Steeler fan but my dad, and he is a true Cleveland fan, Indians, and the Browns, has been all his 86 yrs. lol have to laugh he is funny about his Browns and my granson, his greatgrandson loves to tease him about them.

And he hardly ever gets to watch them in FL, I think we will look for a sports bar when I get there and see if we cant get to watch some games this fall/winter. Any way I am looking forward to this road Trip, oh, and on Mon, we well go to Lancaster Pa to a few wholesale businesses my daughter needs some painting supplies. And its always fun to go there. And home on Tues.

The cache of the day is one I found a few weeks ago, it is a new one, at the head of a bike/ hiking trail, that they just paved. I is really nice for walking, and there are a few other caches on this trail, I don't think we will be able to find them this year, as I am running out of time. Maybe next spring.

LESSON I

PAINT BOX WEATHER Temp 46 was to be at least 55 but never made it. Some rain , and cold. nasty day!

New blog. I am thinking on making another blog, like two is not enough. If any of you have read my other blog you will know that I have been a decorative painter since the mid 80's and did it for a living over 15 years. Well its time to change my direction, and think I have found my new hobby I say hobby cause now I'm retired, lol. Altered art is the name, but it comes in many forms, the one I want to do right now to start is collage. Early this summer as I was purging I ran across a couple of cork bulletin boards. And thought they would make great inspiration board that I had been reading about on a few blogs on altered art. So I put them aside and finally this week got around to playing with them. I will show you what I got done so far on my next post.

But for this post I want to show you what I did today. I have several old cigar boxes, don't ask me why, cause I don't know why, so I thought might like to start on one of these. This one is a paper covered wood box. I left the paper on as it would be to hard to remove, and just covered it over with some sheet music I got at a yard sale. Music is from a book late 1800's . I used mod podge for the glue. glued all sides with the sheet music inside. Named this box Lesson l . You can see it in the third pic, it came from the first lesson in the sheet music book. Then on the outside I mixed it up with a few different colors of paint.

This is all I got done so far, but I loved doing it and I will keep you posted on the progress, but I really think it will be on a totally new art blog.

We were going to do some caching today but nasty weather put a hold on that. So here is that cache I lost a couple weeks ago, he replaced it and we went back to claim it. It was really way to easy.

Another thing I did this weekend of playing around is some sketching. I was reading this one altered art blog about how she took an on line class on drawing faces. This on line class thing sound pretty cool to me and I checked a couple pic's she posted of her work. Well I have never ever before drew a face (maybe tried a santa face) and I never sketched before, only doodles.

Sooo while looking at her sketch from the class I tried it and low and behold I did it! And it look like a human face, on the prim side as I don't know alot about shading and a lot of other things.

So I have been sketching up a storm all weekend. I know one thing when I get a new puter I am going to take some online classes. I can't wait!!

WEATHER: Nice over the weekend, today 51 with high of 64 rain and cloudy.

What have I been doing? Well after all the purging & packing, I have to many totes packed to take with me. So I have started to look thru them and repack! UGH!! I what to take my scrap booking things, vintage ephemera, items I call THRIFTY TIMELESS TREASURES , to sell on Esty. I want to sell things for peeps altered art and embellishing projects and things for collecting.

All my pictures, clothes, and other necessary items used for daily living. I want to take lot of things from my kitchen, I like to cook with my stuff. I have a small Toyota Tacoma truck and limited on each trip load. And of course Maggie and all her stuff. Yes she has STUFF, balls and toys thing that a doggie can't do with out. LOL That will be my focus now, getting ready to leave on Nov. 1 I am ready to go south!!

Posted a few pic's on things I seen in my travels this week. I like to decorate for fall but those huge pumpkins are way beyond my decorating! What would you do with them after? If you click on the pic you can see how much they weigh, the have it on a sign in front of each one. lol Lots of pies there! I know they are not pie pumpkins. :)

One other thing I saw was that RV parked in our Wal Mart with levels down, sides out, toad with motor cycle. It was parked there for 5 days. I seen a man coming out of it one day. No clue what was going on, I have seen lot of over nighters, but not long term like that. Our WM is less than a mile away and I go there alot:) So I see these things.

The cache of the day is one of the new GRF (like the one I lost, he replaced it by the way) This one was hard to see coming down the road, I stopped where the GPS said, it was a few feet away from hidden GR and all I seen was a small path into the woods. I went a few feet in looking for the GR , came back out when I didn't see it , walked behind the truck and seen the GR. Found it easily after that. That is what a "camo pill bottle" looks like. Pill bottle covered with camo duct tape. Bet you didn't know there was such a thing as camo duct tape!

Well since it is rain and gloom today, I will work inside on the tote thing. And what ever suits my fancy. I still have so much to do , I feel guilty when not working on something. I will be glad when this is done! Then I hope to find out what is really like to be retired and do what ever I want with out all the guilt. Dont know why I let that stuff bother me, at this time in my life but I do.

POOR MAGGIE ! :( WEATHER: Temp 77 maybe got to 80 and hot today! Mostly sunny with a few showers.

Son came in today and finished up the Dry Loc on the basement walls, and check out a bump on the hallway wall. Turns out its 100 yr old plaster pulled away from lath. Very fixable.

The cache of the day is a new one we found the other evening, it is located by our WM. The hint was under something metal and over something rubber. Can you figure it out? I though I knew but was not there,but I finally found it. The pic if the cache is not the one at the site, but another one and I have yet to figure out how to delete pic's, so its still there. PS: I added a pic of the cache.

We have a couple GIANT zucchini's left in the garden, soooo what to do with the GIANTS,? make zucchini bread!! Mmmmmmm good made that yesterday. I still have some left. Might slice it down and grill it.

Well here's the news on Maggie, we were out for our walk and ran into a neighbor, she has a rescue black Lab about 1yr old maybe a little older. We have been friendly with the lab since we came back from FL. I think she got the dog last fall or winter, not sure. At first she didn't like Maggie but she didn't like any dogs , so we were real careful around them. Even now I would always try to pet the Lab before the neighbor would get down to pet Maggie, now Maggie love's neighbor and was always pulling on leash to get to her. Yesterday I didn't get to lab soon enough and she went for Maggie. It was horrible!!! Growling , teeth, and Maggie screaming like banshee, the lab had her by the throat, and I can't even tell you how bad it was. I was sooo scared, and Maggie was hysterical, when she gets scared like that she starts screaming, not barking , but screaming and she sounds just like a human baby, its unreal, we finally got her away from the lab and she was still screaming, I had to sit down on the grass with her to calm her, and check her over.

In the end she was ok and not hurt. The poor neighbor was beside her self. I felt sorry for her. I sat there with her for about 10 min then I took home and we sat in the back yard for awhile and I checked her over again. This is the second time she has been attack, once a shelty from down the street not on a leash came charging after her I scooped her up but not in time she had one leg dangling and he nipped it. She was screaming then too. From now on we are avoiding any big dogs! She does have a few doggie friends in the neighborhood but they are all small. Whew what a day. So the pic you see of her was resting in her bed.

THE CAMO PILL BOTTLE CACHE WEATHER: Temp 65 and sunny nice fall like day.

Today was so nice out that we went for a ride to get Maggie some dog food. I have to go out of town to a pet store to get it. Went to Lowe's to get some more Dry Loc. We also picked up a cache along the way. The cache was along a four lane highway. The DOT put in these "jug handles" to help make crossing the highway safer. The jury is still out on this. When viewed from above, these do look like jug handles. This is where the cache was hid. Easy find. I like these kind of finds I call them " old lady hides.

Came home did some more packing and cleaning up, put some stuff away in the spare bedrooms to take care of next spring. Did some outside work also, put lawn furniture in the shed and stuff like that. Still have more to do, did not get the stuff on the porch. I think we still have some sitting time out there before it gets to cold.

The first pic is the last flea marked I did. It will be the last one of the season. I had everything for $1.00 or less and still didn't make very much. Not alot of peeps there. If you click on the pic it gets bigger and you can see Maggie looking out the truck window. Sweet little thing!

The second pic is of peeps set up on my left, they had tye dye shirts, hats, baby things, anything you could think of to dye. And man were the busy. I guess the tye dye is coming back, they sold a lot of it.

The third pic is of guy beside me, I was talking to him and a butterfly came and landed on his hat. He told me that this has been happening to him all summer, no matter where he is. It stayed on the had for about an hr. Cool.

WEATHER : Great pre fall day. Temp 70 and sunny but fall is in the air.

Today I went to a gun raffle with my brother, it was a fund raiser for the Jamestown Fire Dept.

It is held every Sept at the Jamestown fair ground, in Jamestown Pa. This is the third yr I have attended with my brother. He told me something today I didn't know. This gun raffle was started years ago by our dad. He is a gun smith and owned and operated a gun shop. He made custom guns, repair work and sold new ones. The first one , they raffled 10 guns and sold about 100 tickets. This year they raffled around 75 guns and sold 2,000 tickets. Good fund raiser for them. With the ticket you get all the corn on the cob you can eat, drinks, and a BBQ chicken dinner. And of course the chance to win a gun. Pa is a great hunting state so they are all hunting guns. Had a nice outing with my brother.

Also this AM Maggie and I went out for a couple caches. The first one was a new one in the GRF seires Well, all started fine, it was easy to get to and an easy find. It was naturally on a guard rail, by Shenango Lake. It was a little hard to get into my hands and I had two of my finger tips on it and went to pull it out and it flipped into a black hole!!! It seems that it is a new guard rail and they have these black box type things cover or what ever, attatched to the post and the rail and the are hollow and in it went. Try as I might , I could not get it out. :( So I emailed the cache owner and told him what happened and offered to replace it. I have not heard back yet.

So on to the next cache that I have posted a pic of and it was an easy find and uneventful. Thank

SKETTTY SAUCE & A CACHE...& PROGREES?

TO THIS ! WEATHER TODAY: TEMP 61 COOL AND RAINING...FALL IS COMING!

Thought I would show you the finished product. We got 35 pts out of two batches. Brother is going to pick more tomatoes tonite and we will make sauce again on Sunday. I don't mind canning or cooking for that matter, I kind of enjoy it as long as I'm not rushed. When I was married about a 100 ys ago we did tons of canning. One year we had sooooo...many tomatoes we even made ketchup!

Yesterday I worked on packing and purging. I got alot done, with all the paper, computer desk, and other desk area. Computer desk is now clean and empty. The other desk is clean and mostly empty, the only things left in drawers are paper work I need to take with me. My truck will hold 10 large totes, stacked two high and that is about all. I all ready have that many and a few more packed, that does not include my clothes and such. I have a few pieces of furniture I want to take and have no idea how i will get it to Fl.

I think I am pretty much done for this year. As I look back on all the things we got accomplished this past year, starting last fall to this fall, we did a lot. Most of it was done this summer as I spent the winter in Fl as you know :)

WHAT WE DID

1. Scraped, primed and painted the whole outside of house.

2. Rehabed the garage. New roof also. This was a lot of work took more time and money than first thought.

3. Cleaned out basement, this was major undertaking there was only a path to the washer and that was it!!

4. Scraped and put dryloc on the walls and floor in basement. Painted the floor also. I only have about 1/2 hr. of work left in basement.

5. Cleaned out shed, yard sale alot of it and took to flea market to sell

6. Painted trim & vanity in bathroom and took up the rug. Needs flooring now.

7. Power washed the porch and stained it.

8. Had 3 yard sales. I did not get to do the tag sale thing this year, but it will be done next spring/summer. Having a yard sale is not easy by any means!

I am sure there was more, like the packing and purging, guess we got alot done when you

list it all. And a BIG thanks to my Son for all the help and work he did, I could not have done it

alone, THANKS SON!! :) (not that he reads my blog )

The cache of the day we found the other day, It is a new series of GRF ( Guard Rail Fun) caches that someone is doing. Just right for grammynmaggie, as I am not to sure how safe it is for old lady and a dog to be traipsing around in the woods alone. LOL

I had to go out of town today to get Maggie some food and treats. On the way we looked for a new cache that listed last week. It was located down by the Shenango Dam. Last month when I took Dad down that way, I saw an eagle's nest on a power pole, just before where the cache is located. At that time it had a young eagle in it, now I wish I had taken the time to return and get a pic of it, because now its gone. But the nest is still there, I have seen a couple nest on poles that the ACOE put out in the lake for nesting eagles , but never on a live wire and never with a baby in it ! This was on a causeway crossing the lake. Way too cool I think!

Just at the end of the causeway around the corner was the new cache. Not very hard, a guardrail cache and not a pretty view to boot. Oh well got my neat view just before.

Went and got Maggie's stuff, and found a few other cache's. Will post them another time when I haven't any to post about. We found 4 out of 5 today.

In between we got a lunch in a box from KFC. I like to eat their chicken once in awhile. We took it down my the Shenango and found a picnic table with a view and ate. Chicken strips, cole slaw , biscuit and a Dr Pepper. I brought an apple from home. We had a good day away from all the work we have been doing all summer. I think I am winding down on that for this year.

I continue to read my RV blogs on those that are blessed and able to go full timing in an RV! I guess I am living my RV life at this time thru them. I have several that I read everyday. Some people read novels, I read blogs. Alot of them the peeps go geocaching as they travel, in fact that is where I first heard of geocaching.

I think I am going to try and do a few fun things now before leaving for FL. Take few day trips and caching around here. I know I'm going to VA the second weekend in Oct to my daughters and we are going to Color Fest in Thurmont MD. For years we set up and sold at this show, now it will be fun just to go and enjoy. It is huge, very had to see everything in one day. I will take pic's and post about it when I go.

WEATHER: Temp 89 still hot here!

Here are a few peppers I got at the flea market on Sun. Thought I might roast them. I roasted them on the grill, and it worked great, did not heat up the house this way! They got black real quick, and I was thinking that maybe they were ruined. But I cooled them in a bag and started to peal them and it was ok, just skin blackened like it was suppose to be. Now for some great sammy's! As RR would say.

I was going to be making some raspberry freezer jam yesterday, but my "brand new" refrigerator that I bought in April is not working. Granted it was a cheap one, but one would think that it would last longer than a few months. I hope I can take it back. So I did the peppers instead.

The cache of the day was a cemetery cache we found a few weeks ago. It is another typical cemetery cache, if they are not at the edge of the cemetery they are in a tree. Like this one. Really easy to find.

I am still working on getting rid of stuff. It is really getting old. I think this week at the flea market I will put up a big sign " EVERYTHING IS $ 1.00" hope that will help sales. At this point I am ready to give it away. Not everything but most of it!

Well...guess I will go pick through a few things and pack up more. I hope to mow the yard this evening if it cools down, as it is suppose to rain the next couple days. Maybe Maggie and I will do some caching in the rain. For some reason I like caching in the rain, not storms just rain. I don't think Maggie cares as long as she gets to ride in the truck with her Mamma.lol

WEATHER : TEMP 91 Fall is not here!

Yesterday I went out to my brothers and set up the squeezo and made tomato puree to make spaghetti sauce. I use to make home made sauce years ago. And just resurrected it a couple yrs ago when my brother planted a garden and had about a zillion tomato's. I don't know how many of you know about this little jewel, the squeezo, but if you don't and you make any kind of tomato juice or sauce, you must get one! You put the tomato's in the top , do not peal them, press them down the funnel with the plunger and out the side of the sieve comes the juice and out the end comes the seeds, skin, and stems. It is a wonder of the cooking world! I have been doing them as the ripen and freezing the juice till I get enough to do a batch. That would be about 16 pts. that is how many my pressure caner holds. Yesterday I did three sink full of tomato's and cooked it down a little, then on Sat morning we are going to make a batch. I don't mind cooking and enjoy it most of the time, and caning is a part I have always liked to do.

I don't have a geocache today, but will post one next time. I had a yard sale last Sat again I forgot to take pic. I did take some at the flea market I set up at on Sun. will post them next. Today I am making raspberry jelly. More late about that.

MAGGIE & A CACHE WEATHER : TEMP 73 with sun and clouds nice day!

Started our day taking Dad to the Pittsburgh Airport. Of course I forgot to take pic's of him at check in area, didn't remember till on the way out. So I took a pic of the sign. I was so intent on finding him a wheel chair did not get the pic's. He has bad knees and is a little unsteady so he would never have made it to the waiting area on his own walking. I am sure he made it to FL before we got home. We didn't get home till 5 pm.

First off after leaving airport I was too busy taking pic of signs that I did not read them and went south on I-60 instead of north. So by the time I figured that out, I decided to take rt 18 back. See some sights on a off road. Twice there was a detour because of closed road, and I got a little lost!

Then when we got closer to home we looked for a few cache's. Only found one, you can see Maggie checking it out. Had fun even if we didnt find more.

On the way home we came upon a few signs of fall, even tho it is stilll on Aug. One thing about PA it is beautiful in the fall. I will get some more pic's to post.

Well thats about all, it was a long day. Going to do the kick back thing again tonite.

THIS WAS IN THERE! WEATHER TODAY: COOL AND CLOUDY BUT NICE

This morning went out to help son with his car. Having problems and its not looking good.

Later came home and went to WM for some food shopping. I have been cooking and eating at my brothers home and have not had any food in the house, since dad is leaving tomorrow I had to go get a few things. In shopping around this summer and last winter in FL, I have discovered that all WM are not equal. Price wise that is. Here in our town, in one of the poorest county's in PA the prices are higher than anywhere else I have shopped. It's the same with fuel prices higher here. Even higher than 15 miles south, sometimes I take a ride and fill up out of town. This is something I have never understood.

The cache is one we found a few weeks ago while out fishing. This one was a little tricky to get out , as you can see a little space with a big amo box in it!! The hole beside the rock was covered with sticks and small rocks. Fun to find. I sure wish someone in my family would go caching with me. :(

At 6pm going out to dinner with some family members with dad for his last night up north.

He will be leaving in the morning I will take him to Pittsburgh to catch his plane. He will be then be back in Florida in about 2 1/2 hrs.

MAGGIE SNIFFING THE CACHE WEATHER: SAME OLD THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS ENJOYING! THREE LETTER WORD= HOT !

Now to where I have been. Well first of had a procedure done where there was a polyp was removed, you know the one ! Seriously , I am glad my new doctor said I was old enough to have one done, actually over old, should have done it few yrs ago. I was have no problems that would make me think I had a polyp. It was the kind that would cause problem if not removed. So I am very glad I had it done!

A few days later my dad flew in from Florida for the month , so son and I went to Pittsburgh to pick hi m up. Nice airline SW they put him in a wheel chair and transported him to the baggage area to where we waited. Everything went smooth. I have been cooking for him and and my brother every night, as he is staying with him..

Still working on purging house hold. Had a yard sale and did fantastic! I will be having another one this Sat. And then in Sept. hope to have the Moving/Tag sale to get rid of larger items.

I forgot to take pic's but will take them this weekend.

The cache of the day is new one only a couple miles away, we found it last Sunday morning in the rain. Maggie always has to sniff and check the caches out as she is doing in the third pic.

Yesterday (Sun) it rained again so I did not set up at the flea market. I have only set up once in 4 weeks due to rain. It is still raining this morning I hope it stops this afternoon , I want to get the sqeezo set up and to tomatoes for sauce. I also am going to make a hot pepper/mustard relish that is scrumptious I will post the recipe later. You freeze it not can. That's what I like, less work for me!

THE CACHE WEATHER: HOTTER THAN BEFORE.

Dog days of summer blah, work blah, caching blah, and a boring blog blah! That's the way I have been feeling, so I know I have been lax in posting.

I think I have the most boring of boring blogs, in Bloggerville. I think all this work is getting to me this summer, ya know the old saying all work and not play , blah , blah, blah! Every blog I read peeps, are doing things, going places, and all that good stuff. I cant even get to any caches, I go to the flea market to set up every Sunday, but even that is work. lol even the flowers in the pic are blah looking wilted, it rained the other day so I set them on the step to get a good drink. Ok ok enough of the soap box!

After all is said and done, and complained about, we are making progress with the house. Got the basement walls all painted with the DRY LOC and boy did it do a great job. I you have damp or wet basement walls don't hesitate to use this product. I forgot what a good job it does! We put some on the floor were we thought it might be helpful, and it worked there also. Then we painted the floor ( just have a small area left to do) and finally the whole basement looks better than it has in many years. You don't mind going down there and doing what ever. LOL to bad I will be leaving it for someone else to enjoy.

As I said have not even been able to go do any caching. So here is pic's of one I got a couple of months ago. Was kind of easy, and I got to see a little park that I didn't even realize was there.

Well all for now. I'm off to give Maggie a bath, she must know, she is hiding under the chair in the living room. LOL

WEATHER: Temp in low 80's Nice!

Had company this weekend. On Sat my DD & SIL came up from VA, to get "stuff" that I had set aside for her to paint on. She has a lot of shows coming up this fall, and I wanted to get rid of it so now its hers! We had a whole truck load for them to take back as you can see from the pic's. I had every thing from slate from my roof I replaced ,to old tin from the 50's like old canister sets, baking things etc etc. And some old windows. All in all we had a nice day. They had to return to Pittsburgh, where my G-Son was so it was a short visit. Saying prayers for SIL, on Tues he will be having knee replacement surg. The second time for this knee, didn't work out so good first time he had it done two yrs ago.

We sure made a lot of $$$ from the 100 year old slate that was taken off my roof. Some time I will dig around for some pic, of what we use to paint on them, and maybe DD will send me some of what she will be doing now.

The cache of the day is one we found last week. It is in the very old part of a local cemetery. I like this cemetery, very old, when I was a child I remember my maternal grandparents taking me with them on memorial day, to plant flowers. I don't remember where they were, but someday I think I will walk around and see if I can find them. Around were the cache was hid, some of the old trees were growing around the stones. Some stones you could not even read anymore. I took me some time to find this one. You can see Maggie helping lol.

This week son and I will be back working in the basement hope to get the walls done, and the rest of the "stuff" taken out. I might move it to the shed , so it will be easier to put it out for the yard sales I am planning. Will see how it goes. I can't wait till I "retire" for real!!

YARD SALE AT SON'S

FLEA MARKET SET UP

BROOKIE AT FLEA MARKET WEATHER: HOT HOT AND HOTTER! Temp today was 92. Thats all I have to say about that!

What's been going on around here, well , a lot! Son and I have been working in the basement, cleaning sand stone walls that had dry-loc put on about 25 yrs ago, and was chipping. Then we painted new dry-loc on the walls. We got about 3/4 of it done. Then we started working on a yard sale we wanted to have at his home last Friday. Did that then next day Sat. we set up at a flea market, seems he has been bitten by the flea bug!! Anyway that's a lot of packing and unpacking and again and again. The one pic has my G-Daughter in it she did a great job of helping at both yrd sale and flea marked and even sold some stuff she has out grown, now that she will be a "teenager" in Aug. The other flea market pic is of our set up, the white car and truck is our spaces, we got side by side so we could share the tables.

I have not had time to do any caching, but there is a pic of one I did not long ago. It is a new listing but I was not the FTF. It is at a local ball field, behind that fence you see. Also behind the fence was mosquito city, and other biting bugs. WoW, I got a line of bites on my ankle that dove me nuts all week after I visited there.

This week I have been working inside most of the day because of the heat. I did some land scape early in the mornings. I am gathering up and sorting again, never ending job at this point.

My daughter and son in law are coming on sat to get some things that I had for decorative painting she is going to use the stuff. It will be nice to see them. I think we will be going out to my brothers to have a weeny roast in the afternoon. Nothing formal just who ever shows up.

Then on sunday we will be setting up at the flea marked again.

TEMP IN 80'S Hot and muggie with storms everyday almost

The first pic is of a Korean Dogwood tree I planted about 8 years ago. It was only about 4 foot high when I planted it. I think it is slow growing, but seems to have grown alot. In the spring and early summer it gets those white blossoms . Then in the fall it gets what I call red bead type berries on it. It really blooms 3 seasons. I think I like it more than the reg dogwood that only blooms once and for a short time. The white blooms are on the tree about 6 weeks.

Next two pic's are of the first butterflies I seen on my butterfly bushes this season. I was hanging up clothes and looked over and seen them, ran in to get camera to show you all. The bushes just started to bloom day before yesterday, they sure popped out ! The blooms on the bushes smell like honey to me, no wonder they like them, and also they attract humming birds.

We have been working for the last 2 weeks and got the garage done. I have some clean up to do in front before I post pic's, will do before and after. The before are really bad, I don't want to show them!

I have a lot more landscaping to do, but got that one little section done. I hung up the bird feeder so I could sit on my newly refinished porch and watch the birds. After reading Judy&Emma's blog http://travels-with-emma.blogspot.com/ and seen all her great pic's of birds, got me interesting in bird watching, so far I have seen just a few verities. Sparrow, blue jay, cardinal, and the robins but they don't use the feeder. Its fun to watch them, they must have a "pecking" order, they chase each other away from the feeder. Some of the sparrows get in there and bird seeds go flying everywhere, its a riot, then others go in and eat daintily no seeds flying at all.

The cache for today, I wanted the pic's to be in the middle of this post, after the text telling about the above. If any one can tell me how to do that, I would be grateful, or maybe with this template you can't do that. Well anyway this cache Maggie - the geo - hot dog and I found this one a few days ago. It is in the Shenango Dam area, and is just a short walk from parking lot. It was not to hard to find, it is sitting in the pic beside its hiding place. It's the same area where I saw the man hook a big cat fish, at least that's what it looked like from my view.

NICE VIEW HIDING CACHE

THE CACHE WEATHER:Temp 80 , cloudy and rain on and off.

Maggie the geo-dog, and I went out early this morning to get some caches. First we went to a couple at a swimming beach at the Shenango Damn. It was great no one around except on fisherman around the corner from the beach area. I don't know if it was to early or the clouds that put the Mrs. Carmin - Geea in a "mood" or what, because she didn't know her left from her right. But after some time and geo-sense kicking in we found it. We watched as the fisherman hooked and landed a nice size fish. We found a total of 3 this morning, more about them another time. I have to save some for the times I don't go caching.

Son made good progress on the garage this week, its looking good , he complains because its not perfect, I keep reminding him what he had to work with, and considering that, it looks great! I will have before and after pic's when its done.

We tried a little fishing and had no luck, and lost a lure to boot. Then the rains came and we left for home. Guess that's all for now

THAT'S IT ! WEATHER: Temp 70's This morning we had tornado warnings. Over now but rain all day.

Been busy this week, working on the porch again. After power washing it I went to Lowe's and got some stain sealer and that is what I have been doing. The railing and all those rungs seemed to take forever! I had to stop working on it because of the rain. Son will be coming back this week to start making the new doors for the garage. I should take before and after pic, but the before will be pretty bad. While working on the porch I hurt my back so I am glad for a few days off, but not the storms and rain.

The cache of the day is one I found a few weeks ago, at a local cemetery. Most all cemetery hides are on the edge. Found this one pretty easy. I wish my geocaching was more exciting so I would have some fun things to blog about!

I wanted that duck pic to be last after the text part of this post but it ended up first. Anyway it was cute pic of duck waiting in line at McDonald's. I seen them one day while caching. We were not far from the river, guess thats were they came from.

MICRO CACHE WEATHER: Rainy and storms last two days. Sat and Sun were great, but hot 87.

Well I was all ready by 7am on Sat morning. Expecting the crush like the last two yrs. But it never happened. I think it was because there were sooooo many yard sales for this weekend. On a busy weekend there would be normally 10 - 12 sales advertised in the local paper. This weekend there were 50 advertised! On Sun afternoon I was talking to a customer and telling her about this and she said, hey that was only half of them, there were so many not advertised she said they were all over the place. I did not make 1/10 th of what I should have. That means I have to work extra hard and do more sales and flea markets. I did sell a lot but they wanted it for practically nothing so the dollars did not add up fast. It was a lot of work, for very little $$ this time. Enough complaining on to the caching.

I did not do any caching this week or weekend, so here is one we found last weekend. It a micro on a stop sign. In the pic you can see how small it is beside my red ink pen. It was pretty obvious where it was as there was noting around but the stop sign. Found it really easy.

I got the stain/sealer for the front porch but with all the rain can not get it on. And it is suppose to rain most of the week, so I will be working on the inside of house. I think I will gather up and pack in totes everything that I think I want to take with me, get that out of the way and start tagging everything else for the tag sale. I still have all the bedrooms to paint, and finish up the bath tub repair, and flooring. Maybe Maggie and I will take a day off and do some caching this week, even if it's in the rain. We need a break!

WEATHER: Temp 83 and lot of sun shine = HOT

This week has been a busy week for me. Getting ready for first yard sale of the season, it is an annual Memorial Day weekend one I have had for the last few yrs. It is usually the biggest one.
Son came and we took out tables and two loads of totes. Tomorrow I will start to set up, for Sat, Sun, and Mon. It might rain tomorrow so I will have to play it by ear.

While we were at my brothers home I got his power washer, loaded it in the truck and son did my front porch. It turned out pretty good considering nothing has been done to it in over 10 yrs. Next week after yrd sale I will put on a couple coats of a honey colored sealant on it. One more thing to cross of my large list of things to get done on the house. Son will start the front of the garage next week also. I guess we are going to put on new doors, like the original ones that were on it. Things are headed in the right directions, maybe not as fast as I would like to get it done but it will get there.

The cache of the day is one geo-dog Maggie and I found last Sunday while caching in a town just a little south of here. This was the second time I looked for this one, it is right in the middle of a bunch of businesses and way to many mugglers were around. But this time we found it as every one was closed. I think I like to cache on Sundays as not many mugglers around at that time. This one had a neat hiding place as you can see in the pic. I looked around a light pole and didn't find anything, looked over to the right and saw that hanging on another pole and yep that was it.
So far this summer I have only been able to go caching once a week, I read some of the logs of others and man, they go every day! The must be "retired" lol.

GEOCACHE & RAIN RAIN AND RAIN

CACHE IS IN THERE SEE I TOLD YOU!

THE CACHE WEATHER: Warm but rain the last few days. 70's. Suppose to stop raining on Monday and be it the 80's all next week!

CACHE: This is one we found few weeks ago on the edge of a local cemetery. As you can see this one could have been very hard to find. There could be a bunch of trees and logs that can be potential cache hide sites. That is why having the GSP is a must. Maybe like some of the light post hides in parking lots and out in the open ones, you could find with out one just by looking at the location on google maps. In fact that is how I found the first few caches I went looking for. In the beginning I did not have a GPS. And I still don't have the proper GPS for locating the cache, I have one for driving, Garmin Nuvi, but I have learned to make adjustments and it works ok for me most of the time. In the future I hope to get one for walking and caching.

WORK: I spent most of the last couple days still working on sorting and packing. This is going to be a long, long summer! We will be working on the front of the garage next week. Not sure what son wants to do, make new garage doors, or put up some siding and replace the entrance door that is in ruin. We put it in an closed up the front about 25 yrs ago , so that I could make it into a work shop. Now that part of my like is over, we need to do something else with it.

XING CACHE & MORE SORTING

THE PATH

WHERE IS THE CACHE?

HERE IS THE CACHE HIDE

THE CACHE WEATHER :Today the weather is great 68 and sunny.

not so great last 2 days.

CACHE:

This cache I found a while back, it is located in an area where there are new office buildings, a walking path, and some woods around. It was called path xing, so I figured I would just follow the path and when it crossed with another I would find the cache. Wrong! Now these woods are not deep at all, in fact there is a 4 lane highway , the woods, then the offices, and with out leaves on the trees you can see the highway and cars. So I walked around these woods looking for the path crossing, did not find it, so back tracked all the while keeping my eye on the GPS, and finally found about where it should be, in the second pic I posted. Walked up to it and there it was, in all the stacked up wood, that should be a good hint when you see something like that. I took a pic of the camo cache beside my clip board and GPS. Maggie took a walk on the path with me this time. As long as we are on a path she is ok with that most of the time. It was nice walking in the woods and not be afraid of wild animals. lol.

WORK SORTING:

On Mon. & Tues. I worked in side the house as it was cold and raining. The garage roof did not leak!! A couple years ago I worked part time in a local craft store. Some times after the first of the year the want to get rid of inventory and have huge sales. At the time I was working they had a sale on all the scrap booking items , everything from scissors to paper and everything in between

The sale was everything you could stick in a big brown bag for something like 12$. Now I am a great packer, years of doing craft shows, and you would not believe what I got! Over $6,000 worth of retail for only $300. I sold off a lot of it, but still have tons and tons of it left. So that was the project for this week, on rain days. I am going to keep some of it to take to Florida and scrap book for family and sell the rest at yrd and flea sale. I am not even 1/2 done sorting and I have it all over the dinning room. I have to figure out where to store what I want to take with me. I emptied three trunks I kept most of it in.

Today I painted up a load of Americana to take to Volant and see if I can wholesale it to one of my store owner buddies. I will take a pic when I get it all done. Also mowed the yard and hung out a load of laundry. I love to hang out close on a line!

ON THE ROOF WEATHER: Weekend weather was great, sunny 70 just right for working

today, cool and rain.

The cache of the day was one we found on Mothers Day Sunday, a nice easy cache, in a local cemetery. You can see old s tones, since caches placed in cemeteries are along the edge mostly you see the old old stones, some so old the names are worn off by the elements. It is very interesting to see the old stones way back to the 1700's. I haven't seen any old than that. I was looking all around the base of the tree, that is usually where they are hid, finally found it hanging in front of my face.

Son got a lot done on the garage this weekend, a pic of him on the roof and a pic of patio / work space. We hit the basement with a big hit this weekend. Took two truck loads of lumber( mostly scraps from my wood working days ) out ! When we looked at it in a big pile I couldn't imagine that all of it was in the basement. Unbelievable what we cram in our spaces! Also found water leakage not good :( I don't know how much I will get done today, tired and lazy feeling. But I will work on something, maybe more packing up one for sale, two keep, three throw away. A box for everything! Some day this will be all done! Then what will I do??? lol

A CITY BIRD?

WEATHER : TEMP 70 Some sun and clouds, expecting storms. But looks like a nice weekend coming up maybe get garage done.

BIRD :The first pic is something you don't see walking down your street very often I have lived here 33 yrs and have not seen one. Did see a small bear a few yrs ago. It was strange about the bear, the cops came looked and said leave it alone (it was up a neighbors tree) it will go away. I was worried about kids and pets but it did come down and lumber away.

The ring neck pheasant I seen the other day, I kept tyring to get a better pic but it just would not stay still lol.

TODAYS CACHE :The cache is one I found a few weeks ago, it was out in and open field area, only one lonely tree, on a dirt road. It was obvious where it was. This was listed for everyone on the web site, but just yesterday I seen it was change to premium member's only, those who pay to use the web site the also get other benefits.I don't know why the changed it.

The last few days I have been working in basement (still) I have a bunch of lumber and scraps to get out, hope to do that this weekend. Today did a load of laundry to hang out and hope for the rain not to show up. So far so good. I think most of this afternoon will be spent working in the dining room clearing out the computer desk and a lot of paper work to destroy I don't need anymore. I am tired of carrying boxes and bags up and down stairs so will take it easy today. But still get something done. I do not see a light at the end of the tunnel yet, not by a long shot, but things are getting accomplished. Progress! If I stop and think about all I have gotten done over the last two years, it is a big accomplishment, so I will go with that loll.

MAGGIE WAITING ON THE TRAIL

THE CACHE IS HIDING

THE CACHE WEATHER:Cold and rainy last few days. Ugh! Temp today 59

The cache of the day is one we found on Sunday. It was on a paved bike/walking trail, not far from where my son lives. There are about 5 or 6 on this trail, the first one I did not find I think it was in the woods a little to far for me to leave Maggie on the trail, as she doesn't like to go in the woods. I don't like to leave her alone. The second one along the trail is the one I took pic's of. Trees made the GPS jump around but I finally found it, using the hint on the web site about a log, but believe me there were lots of logs lying around. I was a green camo'ed plastic jar gal size I look for travel bugs but none to be found this time. By the time I found this one it was time to go eat dinner with son and family. I will be back another time for more.

The last few days with all the nasty weather outside I have been working in the basement. Wow

what a job, sometimes I have to go through things twice because I think I will need something or what ever, then go back and say I DO NOT NEED IT! "When" I get it all cleaned out I will put that dry locke stuff on the walls , I did it about 25 yrs ago and it has held up good. The foundations is what they used 100 yrs ago , sand stone, and it flakes over time. This is just one of many many jobs I have to do before renting or selling. I think need to have a yard sale soon to help free up some space. I am going to have a huge one Memorial Day weekend at my brothers house, he lives on a main road to Pymatuning State Park and is a very busy road. Always do good there on a busy weekend.

WEATHER Temp 53 and cloudy & windy

Nice Mothers Day and went caching on the way to my son's home for Mothers Day dinner.

Had a great dinner, hit the spot since I have been trying to do the W. W. diet.

GEESE AT THE CACHE: they were squawking at me the whole time I was there, I mean really loud! Their nest must have been on that side of the water. This cache was hid on state game lands. Seen lots of empty shot gun shells lying around. The saucer looking thing with straw in it

I think might be for an eagle to nest in. I have seen other man made nesting post but they were on the top of telephone poles stuck out in the water. Our state game lands are really beautiful, this is the first time in my life that I actually got out and walked around in them.

THE DOVE: I got to the cache area, and look around before entering from the parking. Maggie again stayed in the truck. The hint was pine trees, well as I was surveying the plot, I seen a few pines in the area. So I took of, I have to remember to take my walking stick at all times no matter how easy it looks. I walked in and around several large ground hog holes, need stick, and located and walked around all pines looking for the cache. Seen nothing, I tend to look low for caches but not all are low. Walked over too a blue bird house, empty, in bad shape. Then I went back to the start area and walked around all pines again, as I was walking around the last bunch of three trees, I had my hand on the tree and was looking down at the ground, and when I look up this is what I saw right in front of my face, startled me a little. I knew right away it was fake and was the cache! What a fun container! It is aways a delight to find things like this after looking and looking what seems like forever but was only about 15 min. This is only one of about three unique containers that I have come across. One that stands out was a peanut butter jar covered with bark to look like a mini log, was very real looking a good camo job. Back to the dove, when I walked around to the front I seen the white tube sticking out with the log in it. Took the log out and signed it , said good bye to geese and was off to my next quest.

In all I found 3 of 4 while on my way to son's.

It is suppose to be cool and rainy this week so might not get much work done to finish up the garage roof. Guess that means work in side for me. I will be so glad when this is all done, but I must remind myself its not getting done by itself!
